Private Collection
Back around 1985 I was 17 years old. My first car was a Corvette (long story but my dad bought it and hated it). Anyway, I was a real enthusiast for my age back then. I was really into 1967s, especially the big block cars.
I lived in northern Indiana at the time. Someone at the local Corvette club told me there was a newly restored 67 bb vert at a Corvette specialty shop for sale in Valparaiso, IN. I took my dad to see it hoping he would buy the car (keep in mind I was 17 and slightly delusional). I remember this car like it was yesterday - Marina Blue, blue interior, black stinger 427/430hp with factory radio delete. I remember this thing being freshly nut and bolt restored, too. Price was $14,000. My dad shook his head: "too much!" We left. But I never forgot that car.
So this March I'm wandering around Muscle Car City down here in FL where I live now and spot this Marina blue on blue 67 Vert. I walk up, notice the black stinger, that it's a 427/400hp car and is also a radio delete vehicle. Could it be? Is it? It looks exactly the same.
Seriously, guys, what are the odds this is the same car I saw with my dad as a kid 25 years ago? I want to say the odds are very high it's the same vehicle. Not many radio deletes, especially in that color and engine combo. I thought it was really cool. Like seeing a girl you were in love with 25 years ago standing right in front of you, not having aged a day.

He gets a large discount due to amount of cars.
He also gets a tax write-off displaying the car collection, calling it a "museum", and charging admission.
Rick made heaps of cash owning some landfills, and those filled up after the hurricanes in '04 & '05.
His collection got too large for his main building, so he installed lifts.
When he ran out of room even with lifts, he had another building built.
When he again ran out of room, he bought the Wal Mart which had been already closed for some time.
You see Rick a lot on the Mecum auctions from Kissimmee, usually sitting in the front row

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

...Stabil fuel treatment only goes so far....I had a friend with a 6300 mile C4 that had sat for years...He regulary used Stabil and a Battery tender...When he died this year he left the car to his daughter...It wouldnt start when she went to get it...This is what I found...
The car's outside didnt give a clue to the "horror that lied beneath" ...The entire fuel system was full of this crap

Unless you want your car to be a fecking museum piece DRIVE IT!!!...or at least drive it enough to maintain fresh fuel in it.

The collection was moved from the warehouse to an old box store location in Punta Gorda and is on display to the public for a small fee. There is a restaurant, gift shop and speed shop inside. There is also an area with a few muscle cars for sale.
What is really unusual is there are no barriers around the cars. I forgot myself and touched a classic Chevy and was politely told to take my hands off the car.
The museum attracts car shows in the parking lot.
Well worth the trip.
