Ummm . . . it IS a stingray as the current C7 stingray badge was originally intended for the C6 and was on the prototype. From the book "Corvette 60th Anniversary" the photo is on pg 390 and the text below it reads "The stylized stingray emblem the design team experimented with (inset) may be a clue of things to come." Insiders say a Sting Ray model could be offered at a premium above the Z06." The C6 was also based on the Lockheed YF-22 fighter per an interview with Tom Peters, chief designer.
Note the use of both "stingray" and "Sting Ray" - my guess is "Sting Ray" is trademarked.
Just searching to see if anybody badged their C6 with the new C7 stingrays as they were designed for the C6 - this was the only thing spotted. So what if it is 5 years old - it's on topic - on MY topic ;-)

As you wish, but have you seen them on an actual C7? They look like flounders, even worse than in pictures, or something really cheap from J C Whitney. If I ever get a C7 they'll be the first thing to go.
The Stingray inignia that is currently being used on the C7 was actually designed and placed on a C6 design study, I have a photo of it in one of my Corvette books.
After reading through this thread and looking at some photos I've decided my 13 GS coupe definitely looks a little like the older Corvette Stingray . . . . but ALOT more than the C7's that currently carries the Corvette Stingray name.
After thinking about this thread for the last few hours I've decided I'm going to order 427, Z06 and ZR1 badges for my base coupe. Not sure where I'll put em all on it, but since GM put them on some C6s I figure they belong on mine too.
