I know like a lot of things, everyone has their favorite kind/brand, but what are some good ones to consider? Not that I'm planning on breaking the speed limit when I get my vette

I have worked my way through the escort 8500 (two of them), 9500i, and now have a 9500ix and have always been happy with them.

The ones most praised are the Escort and Valentine, myself I picked up a Cobra Pro on ebay for $80.00 and it works fine. Its cons are false alarms not sure if this is worse than others, but it does do the job and has saved me a ticket or two.

I like the way the valentine shows where the treat is coming from

I picked up an escort 8500 X50 on ebay fairly reasonable and has done a wonderful job for me. All the escorts and valentines are highly recommended.

Escort 9500ix really like the false alert lockout feature has excellent alert range.

Does it really matter where it comes from. A treat is a treat is a treat.

I have had three generations of the Passport, including the 9500ix. The reliability is a little questionable as two of the three went bad within a week. They were replaced with no hassle, but the three each had an average life of about four years. The range of the 9500ix is not better than my $180 Bel 995. I know this by plugging them up side by side and driving for about 16 hours. Unless you like the GPS feature and need the camera datatbase, don't waste your money on the 9500ix. It offers nothing special in terms of range.

V1 here and love it. Can't compare to others as the V1 is all I've had.

I had an Escort 8500. Best detector ever. It got stolen from my car, amongst other things. I bought a V1 and hated it. I just sold it on ebay. Overly sensitive, plus the windshield mount kept breaking. Escort is the way to go. It's cheaper and performs better.

Really like mine and also deleted X-band and like filtering out the false alarms in my normal routes and we have red light cameras in our area and nice to know where they are

Like my BEL STI Driver, it's louder than the Escort 8500 X50 so I can hear it even when running with the roof panel off. It also comes with an additional speaker.

Thte 8500's I had were VERY quiet. The 9500 is MUCH louder and can be heard with my tp down and music playing.

I've gone through quite and few, some much more expensive than my V1. The V1 is going to be staying in my car.....
