I use tape at the racetrack but I wouldn't use it for street driving. Black PVC tape either 10 mil or 20 mil works way better than painters tape. Christy's (sp?) brand tape works well and removes 99.9% clean...no adhesive residue. Lowe's sells Christy's black PVC tape.
For you guys that don't know, Duck tape is a name brand of duct tape. I couldn't get a bra for it because I am getting the car tomorrow. I think it would be fine, but might leave a little residue. Undecided.
Before I had my current Z, I saw a photo on this forum from a member who was doing a long-distance drive across the States in his C6/Z51. During the trip, the delam reared its ugly head-or was going to, I can't recall which. He did a great job taping it up with two lines to either prevent it from happening, or securing it after failure.
I wouldn't put anything on it. Just enjoy driving your car and don't worry about it. Don't get behind dump trucks. Use common sense. I've never seen anyone with tape on their car driving down the road.
I usually just get a few bottles of gorilla glue and pour it all over the nose then rub it in with your hands until it starts getting tacky. Then find a good spot right in the center to hold your hands against it tight until it hardens so it doesn't start to slump or fall off. It should keep the nose ding free for your trip. Good luck!
That's dumb. Everyone knows that you use your butt cheeks, not your hands.
After 100k+ miles across three Corvettes, the worse stone damage I've experienced is on the windshield. If you use duct tape, don't forget to cover the windshield! However, leave little peep holes...
Seriously, drive it and enjoy it. Don't use duct tape on the body!
Clear Bra, Venture Seal, 3M all have solutions for this. It looks slightly better than your everyday run of the mill painters tape, duct or masking tape.

We've got over 100k miles on 3 vettes and very little stone damage. Try to avoid gravel roads and contruction areas, don't tailgate, slow down on crummy roads.
This summer we took our brand new 2009 on a 4,400 mile road trip. There is construction all over SD, ND, MT, WY. We probably totaled 200 miles on gravel and dirt in construction areas, seriously. One stone chip at the very front edge of the hood.
Duct tape will come off too easily if you have a good wax/polish on the car, or it might rip the paint off if you have no wax.
Bras can get sand/grit/water trapped under the fabric and cause other problems.
Think of any minor damage as "character marks", each one with a trip memory.
