I can tell you what the gear ratios are, but that's all.

For whatever it's worth the Corvette engineers at Funfest showing the new Grand Sport said that the trans in the GS,Z06 and ZR1 were the same for 2010.

The ZR1 uses a special, RPO MH3 version of the TREMEC TR6060 six-speed. Its first difference is a big one: a different gear set. All gears except fourth have different ratios making the new King's tranny a "close-ratio" six-speed. There are two reasons for use of a unique gear set with a higher first and smaller ratio spreads: 1) the lower the ratio, the stronger the gears are. With 604 lbs/ft input torque, this is of particular importance in first and second gears and 2) even if first gear could be made strong enough, there's little point in a 2.66 or 2.97 ratio considering 604 lbs/ft of torque will blow the tires away in the first three gears with the new, MH3 gear set, anyway.
The ZR1 six-speed has other improvements as well. Its input and counter shafts along with fifth and sixth gears are made of more robust, 9310 steel. The structures of the main section of the transmission case and the front and rear adapter plates have been redesigned for increased strength.

Now the rumors are for ZR1 parts in the GS?

The GS is a widebody Z51 w/an LS3 dry sump. Same engine, trans and differential as an '08 or '09 Z51. And the GS is heavier with a less aerodynamic body.

GS with the same HP, heavier and less aerodynamic = slower than a Z51.

Sorry, no base C6 with Z51 for 2010, Ace.

Reading comprehension problems? Read my post again "Ace", I never mentioned a 2010 Z51. What I said was that the 2010 GS was the same as a widebody '08/'09 Z51 but slower and heavier.

No rumors, just some one asking a question.
And now you turn it into a comparison between base model and GS...hasn't that been done enough already? Enjoy your base model.

ps - only the 6 speed coupe GS has a dry sump.

I wouldn't mind having the close ratio trans in my C6. I feel 1st gear is over way too soon anyway. The ZR1 1st-gear ratio would get me past 60 with a comfortable redline margin, and put the engine right at the torque peak for the shift to 2nd.

I would love to have the ZR1 ratios in my GS. A close ratio with true "half-step" gear changes is ideal for keeping the motor in the power band for aggressive street and track use. With the lower (higher numerical) 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears in the GS, it would seem as if the engineers figured the car would be primarily a stoplight-to-stoplight and 1/4 mile machine. The taller (lower numerical) 5th and 6th gears are essentially both OD gears for economy.

FYI, I vaguely remember reading somewhere on this forum that the GS does have the different diameter R&L half shafts, similar or same as the ZR1, to minimize wheel hop.
