3LT had everything I wanted. The extra $$ wasn't a big deal. I don't care about the resale value because I have no intention of selling it. Ever.
Guess, I'm the minority. Memory seats don't do anything for me as I need the seat all the way back and down (I'm 6ft). The seat doesn't hide behind the door jam so the side bolsters get wear and tear. Heated seats are nice. First I've had them. HUD doesn't do much for me as I still have to look down; wish it were higher. For some reason I find myself looking at the guage cluster instead of the HUD. If he will regret not having the HUD, he should go for the 3LT.
I've got the 2LT and have no regrets. It's a car. I get in and I drive. I live in Texas so warm seats are NOT something I would need or want. Now if it came with air conditioned seats - well, that would be a different story.
Having said all of that, I didn't want the 1LT - so what do I know...

Basic car buying rule of thumb: Always buy the most heavily optioned car you can. It will be more enjoyable to drive over the life of the ownership. The resale will also be more all other things being equal.

Heads up is just a gimmick to me. I know others swear by it but it wasn't important to me. Heated seats, I live in North Carolina, probably wouldn't use them more than a few times a year. Memory package, I'm the only one that will be driving my car. The only thing that I would have liked was the telescoping steering column, but it wasn't worth the extra thousands of dollars and I have found that I don't really need it.
