I was out for a drive Sunday when I heard a strange beep and my right turn signal came on. I made a left turn, parked my car and was gone for about 2 hours having lunch. I got back to the car, nothing amiss. I pulled into my garage and the driver side window wouldn't close. I hit the exit button, door wouldn't unlock. I used the manual door release and exited. I closed the door, used the fob to hit unlock, nothing happened. The passenger door also failed to open.
The next morning my fob worked but I took it into my local Chevy dealer. After 6 hours I got a call from my dealer saying the driver side door module had to be replaced. Unfortunately, this part is on back order so the dealer gave my car back, wished me luck and said they would call as soon as they received the part.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar, and if so, was the door module the problem or was it something else? Just wondering. My Chevy advisor didn't sound like he was too sure about the diagnosis.
I've heard of this problem on C5's. The passenger door module went south on my '02. Same thing happened to a friend's C5. Another friend with an '04 Z is having the same problem.
Thanks for the reply. Were they able to fix your probelm satisfactorily?
Replacing the door module fixed my problem and one of my buddy's. Our passenger door would not lock with the Fob. My friend with the '04 Z is looking at a DIY. His passenger window won't go down. Since it controls the lock and window, the door module may have separate connections for each function. I'm not a techie, so maybe some one else can chime in.
It's been a while, but as I recall the C5 door module was over $300. Can't remember if that included labor.
Again, we're talking C5's. Could be a different problem on your C6. Hope it's a cheap fix!
