Anyways, little frigging clearcoat scratches in the black paint are drivng me nuts. Plus I know have my first paint chip (didn't break clear coat thank gosh!).
.
Let me ask you a question, how is it you can get a chip in the paint and not chip the clear coat? You do know the clear is on top of the paint.
Your opinion of how you drive your vehicle is not the same as mine. Big deal. In 10-15 years you'll be able to tell which car was driven like you say, and which one was babied. Which one do you think will have less problems?
There it is right there.15 years down the road the car will still look new.And 15 years down the road most of these guys wont have a Corvette,to them its just a car

I can't afford the "continue to upgrade" plan I guess a lot of CF'ers can. I just can't turn this car over to a dealer and go buy a new unblemished one every 1-5 years. I had my old 92 for nearly 8 years. It still looks nearly perfect today.
To me "it's just a car" fits the bill. It's not that I don't take car of my stuff. But if it could be damaged that easily by the outside elements, it doesn't deserve to be made.
Personally, I prefer seeing vintage sports cars being driven in historic races, cleaned up, and looking good, instead of concours condition cars being trailered to and from shows.
Not that either approach is right or wrong... but it one is far less stressful!
That sucks your car is getting a mess but a few days outside isn't going to kill it. It sounds to me like your way over reacting here. You would think by your original post that your car is now ruined. Give it a good cleaning once you get in your new garage and forget about it.
I am a very picky **** person when it comes to cleaning stuff too. I try not to get stuck in rain. Hey it happens.
Trying having a show car with a bunch of chrome, billet aluminum and having a radiator hose blow off and spray antifreeze all over the place, or a tranny servo cover blow off and cover your under carriage in tranny fluid, or get caught in a parking lot where your car gets covered in dirt, or just the mere fact of getting stuck in torrential down pours. Been there done that, got that t-shirt and you know what the car looks brand new after a good cleaning. Yeah it sucked but it happens....
Cleaning my vette is easy compared to all that crap. Like I said I am one very **** picky person and anyone that knows me will attest to that. I just think to go onto an open forum and start a post solely for the purpose of complaining about it is a waste...sorry.
I feel your pain! We sold the house and now living in an Apt until the AF moves us to MD. No garage and the Vette has to sit out in the elements! Luckily I'm taking to my Nephew's this weekend so he can store it in his garage, in MD, until we move out there next month. I'm used to having sit in the garage and all ready to go at a moment's notice. I know...."it's just a car", yada, yada, yada...but it's my car and it's a Vette -- 'nuff said!!!!
I would leave the cover off, but the parking lot is flanked by sprinklers. The water in these things is extremely HARD. SE Georgia has the hardest water I have seen. It will most definitely etch through, especially with the sun beating down.
OK, take a vacation in CA until the house is ready

And no where did I complain about black, I love it.
I understand what your saying about wanting to take care of what you own but why baby it? You bought a 400+hp car to baby it?
Haha this thread is funny. Have you seen a doctor about your OCD yet? Really it is just a car.....it's a nice car and if you drive it, it will get scratches, chips,etc,etc.....It depreciates the same. I'd rather enjoy driving my car, then worry about it getting a small micro chip!! LOL. And how is not being OCD equal not taking care of your things?
I think it's funny when people treat these cars like they are a one of a kind Ferrari and such.........just gives me a good giggle....hehe o there was one.
Give the OP a break. he just wants to keep it looking nice. I can't stand when I see people, usually women, driving an expensive sports car, and the thing is filthy. The front wheels are black with brake dust etc.(they're probably leasing it)
Have a little pride in what you own, be it a Yugo or a Maclaren. That's not "Babying it."
And therein lies our point. It never was flawless, it will never be flawless. You're trying to attain something that doesn't exist.
I protect my car, I don't go to grocery stores, or Walmart and watch where I park, but the car is a DD as I enjoy driving it. Which is what its all about.
Thank gosh for fiber glass (door dings). I think half of it is stir crazy from being in a hotel for 6 days.
I'm just gonna let it be, and when I get home it will get its bath and we'll see what it needs from there.
Thats the spirit...............you cant control things out of your control...just do the best you can and dont worry about it. Theres nothing that you cant fix.
why is it a poor attitude?....in the end that's all it is....the same a any other vehicle out there.....something to get from point A to B....there are so many more important things in life to worry about than if your precious car is getting dirty.....
Ok, so go get "your" car dirty! The OP cares about his like most of us do.
These lame comments really irritate me.
