Default Wanted to apologize

I was looking over the threads that I had posted when I first made this account and got my vette and they were not the most mature things ever. To whom I may have disrespected I apologize. As being one of the youngest on the forum or if not the youngest I should look up to you older guys. Earning my respect on this forum is very important to me because as I browse through it I find it very helpful. I want to be a part of this corvette family.

I can tell that you have already gained some wisdom Something you'll gain from just about anybody older than you. Enjoy your Vette and lets start seeing some mods in those post.

I hate to say it, but I think any 16-year-old whose parents buy him/her a car like a Corvette can expect to take a fair amount of heat. Whether out of envy or otherwise, a lot of folks are rubbed very much the wrong way by such things. I suspect that most of those here who posted negative responses to your threads were responding to the fact that your parents bought you the car and not to anything else you may have said. Just a hunch.

I don't know what he posted or others responded, but when I was 17 my father got me a one year old 68 Vette 427 tri-carb m22 munsie 4 speed with the side exhaust....we drove it home and he went to the insurance agent to insure the car.......two our later he drove the car to the dealer, rather I did under his orders, and he told me....."when you grow up and are responsible enough to deal with that kind of power and responsibility then you buy it" we went back home in a VW, I don't know what the insurance agent said to my father, but to this day I've had the feeling he did me a favor.....point is a Vette is a lot of car for a 16 year old, hope this parents don't regret it.
With that said, best of luck to the OP, just be responsible and enjoy your ride.

Have not pulled your past posts but your apology certainly shows maturity. And part of growing up is listening to the advice from others who've "already been there and done that". Usually makes it alot easier that way. Shoot, I'm still learning from these old guys . . .

You forgot Rule #3: Torment QuickSilver every chance you get. Yes, it's now mandatory.

Take it from a guy who is 59 and on my 6th Vette. When I was your age and even older I did some very stupid things in my cars. I'm one of the lucky ones that survived. Some kids that did stupid things didn't. I got to attend a few funerals but it didn't sink in until I was older. I now look back and can't believe some of the things I did.

You will probably be like most teenage boys and do some of those same stupid things. I hope you are as lucky as I was. Please, if you are going to race, do it at the track.

I wish you well and enjoy your car. May you live to see at least age 59..

As stated earlier, you are showing maturity, and ability, Great start, now you are still learning your own ability, show the same respect to your car. Be safe and enjoy the ride,

Listen... good post and shows some maturity IMO. I'm state LEO and can only tell you to work really hard ignoring the urge to get on it every chance you get. Trust yourself and not other people to do the right thing with that car. It could be wonderful experience for you and your parents. Don't let them down and turn it into something everyone regrets for the rest of their lives.

I'm personally against kids your age having HP cars because of the carnage I've seen in my job. That's not to say EVERY kid is going turn it into a horror show either. Simply because most here are older doesn't mean we know everything, but we usually know more from the school of hard knocks.

Enjoy the car and make your parents proud of how you handle yourself. It can be done if you work at it.. not easy.. but it can be done. Be safe out there and take care. Good luck with the vette. Treat it and yourself with respect and you'll do just fine....

I don't know specifically what you're referring to but if you feel there's reason to apologize for something, it's always best to do so. I commend you for doing so.

I'll also say don't let your desire to earn respect or 'fit-in' keep you from expressing your honest opinions whether they be positive or negative. Naturally, always express yourself in a mature and diplomatic manner. Respect those with more experience and learn from them but you don't always have to agree with them. With age comes a certain level of maturity and it sounds like you're learning just fine!

Hey their co-member I haven't heard from you in a while. Glad to see that you have been doing a lot of research on the forums. These peps are amazing at the amount of info they have as well as passion for the greatest car in my mind. Hang in there and learn, you have a huge family here that can help you in many ways more than one. Have you done anymore research on those fenders yet?

The same thing happened to me with my first car, but it was a 383 equipped Dodge Charger, returned for a VW Beetle.

Treat the C6 with the respect it deserves and hopefully the mistakes you're likely to make, and we all have made them when we were your age, won't have grave consequences.

No apologies necessary.

Be safe.

smart of you to rethink your posts because you will need this forum. I do not blame you for anything...I got my first car at 14 years old and got more crap than anyone. I got a full ride throughout college for baseball and am still playing right now. Don't let anyone bring you down and keep working hard at what you do! I searched your youtube vids and you do have potential. No matter what your parents or whoever gives you:
A) It's not your fault they provide for you above and beyond what they should, but enjoy it and appreciate it!
B)Pay them back when you can with whatever it is they may want/need! Doesn't have to be material...maybe do something around the house they would nvr expect you to do!!!

I wonder if I'd be alive today if I had been given a car w/ the corvette's performance characteristics when I was 16...the odds are probably terrifyingly low that I would be here.

I also wonder what the ensuing years until i was able to purchase one on my own would have been like.

It felt good to have something to lust after and strive for.

It felt good to work my way up through faster and faster cars, gaining skill and experience.

And it felt amazing to finally do it...to sit in my own, brand new corvette that I bought with my own money and drive it away from the dealership.

If you start right off with one of the world's great performance cars, seems like you're going to have a tough time getting to the next level...but then it sounds like you are starting off in a different world than I was, and maybe money will simply never be a restriction when it comes to getting the car you want.

I hope you enjoy the car, that you stay safe in it, that you realize how fortunate you are to have it, and that you work hard in school and get a great job - cuz taking that next step to a higher performance car is going to cost you a ****load!

You would be surprised at the amount of driving ability you will gain over your first 2 years. Given if you wreck the car... its normal. I know I did when I was 16. It really took that for me to stop driving like a complete idiot and driving like a lesser idiot.

I found maturity came with age and realization of how expensive it is to speed around everywhere (oh the tickets ha).

Cruizin can be fun too. ha
