Default LS3 or LS7????

Im looking to buy a C6 Corvette but don't know which to buy, it either between an:

2008 C6 Z06 (LS7)
OR
2008 C6 W/Z51 Package (LS3)

Regardless of what I buy, I want to do the following mods:
- Heads
- Cam
- Headers
- Exhaust
- Etc. (All the other little stuff)

Just looking for your opinion on which you think I should chose. Im looking to see what would make the best power and a low 10sec track car.

Z06 for sure. Just add a better dry sump since it will be a track car.

Not sure why he'd need a better dry sump if he's looking to drag the car (he said 10 sec track car). I wasn't aware of any oil starvation issues with the Z06/LS7 in a straight line, only under hard left-hand turns. Did I miss something?

Yes, I'll have to agree w/ the rest, the ZO6!

Congrats on whichever you choose!

To be honest, I'd test drive a stock Z06 before you commit to any mods. You may find a 100% stock factory car satisfies your needs. I did.

Good luck

With the mods you plan, I would say z06. But if you think you will ever go with a supercharger go ls3.

Get a Z06 and leave it stock. However if you really wanna mod, get an Ls3. It can take more abuse than the Ls7.

If you plan on forced induction, go LS3. Otherwise, LS7 all the way.

Another decision is the trans. The Auto Trans will be a lot easier to drive and more consistent in a 1/4 mile. It may be easier to start with a C6 auto trans coupe.
However, it's expensive, but several are having RPM convert their Z06 to a 4L80 auto trans.

Sure enough, when I had my car there I just missed the one they did for Rick Hendrick.

I think if you dont need/want a Convertible and have the money, there is no question as whether to get an LS7.

You might find that the LS3 will et quicker with a loose converter and automatic than the Z06 manual tranny. Hard to beat a well set up automatic car vs. a manual tranny car. Like others have said, the LS3 will most likely stay together longer too.

I would think that in building a 10sec vette you would probably encounter alot of traction problems and/or drivetrain breakage.

Interesting, the LS3 block is stronger than the LS7 block? Why so?
