Had same problem with a replacement cap because the original's plastic strap broke. Dealer had installed wrong one. A quick return to the dealer solved that problem.
Been having a problem with my 2008 C-6. When I put the gas cap on after filling the tank, the cap just doesn't want to stay on the tank.
I'll put it back on, turn it until it clicks, and then I can pull it right off.
Any thoughts?
I had the same issue a while ago. Turns out it was how I was putting the cap on. I was pushing down on it as I turned it. That seems to leave it loose. Once I stopped putting pressure on it it clicks and stays on fine.
There have been reports of bad gas caps and those folks have gone to the dealer and gotten a new one under warranty. If what I describe is not your issue just get a new cap at the dealer.
I had mine replaced on my 08 under warranty for that reason.Get a new one.My 05 needed 3 of them. GM issued a 10 year warranty on these things for 05's because they were crapping out left and right.
I've had the same thing happen to me, it caused a check engine light to come on. I used my code reader to figure out what it was and cleared the code, no problems since.
I would love to replace it with a cap that actually stayed on there instead of just pulling off. It can't be that hard to put on a gas cap!
