Its just an RPO code (regular production option) which are 3 digits. Like LS7, 3LT, or Z51....the characters have no significance by them selves and do not stand for anything.
They like to use a "Z" for some of the bigger options because it sounds cool. And certain areas have the same starting character, like L for engines, F for suspensions, G for axles. This is GM corporate.
