Have an 07 Vert, only used the nav a few times since i bought the car 6 months ago. The first few times i used it everything was fine. I would get step by step voice guidance & info would pop up on my HUD when i'd have to make a turn.
Now when i put in a destination the voice promt comes on telling me to go to toward the highlighted route & then thats all i get from the voice. I can follow the route on the map but no info on upcoming turns, nothing on the HUD. If i miss a turn the route does not make a correction as it did in the past.
The voice guidance is set to on, the volume to 5 so i can hear it. The only change i made on the car was installing the PAL. I'd appreciate any feedback.
The HUD is in street mode, just wierd that all the features seem to dissapeared other then the map on the screen
As I recall, the Nav only works with the HUD in street mode.
If I were you, I'd try turning the Nav unit completely off, wait about 30 seconds and turn it back on.
Also, make sure that you complete the destination input properly. You can't just type in a destination and leave it at that. You need to tell the system that it's a destination or waypoint, which route to take, etc. It sounds like the system isn't recognizing a destination. Try it without any voice command integration. But overall, it will just show where you are on the map unless there is a valid destination specified.
The Owner's Manual may be able to help on creating a destination, waypoints, etc.

When you cut the data buss wire to tie the PAL into the XM2, could you have cut the wrong wire? From what I saw when I did mine, it would be easy to make the error.
Try hitting the voice button, and saying "Current Position". It should track you again from there and reroute you as needed. I find while I scroll around the map while in route to a destination, that the same thing happens to me. Doing this voice command seems to do the trick. Good luck!
