When parking with a 6 speed should I be putting the car in reverse? I purchased a 2007 and the dealer did not tell me. But I have read some past threads and now need to know what to do when parking in the garage.
That was an 2005 issue supposedly corrected in 2006. Sometimes people do this anyways. I pull my car in my garage and usually put it in reverse. No real reason really.
'05 is the only year that you are required to park in reverse. By doing this, there is a program in the PCM that doesn't shut down until put into reverse. The battery will drain if not left in reverse. '06 and later don't have to worry about it. I leave mine in 1st while parked in the garage. Nothing is wrong with putting it in reverse though.

This was a design anomaly in '05 MN6's.....shut down needs to be in Reverse. Otherwise the electrical systems don't all shut down, leading to a discharged battery. Design was corrected for '06 on, but some early '06's (w/MN6) may not have got the change. An '07 should be fine, but keep in mind that the parking brake of the C6 is not very strong so putting the trans in gear (1st or Reverse) on shut down is a good idea.

That's probably because it's the lowest gear and will hold better if parked on an incline. Either that or they just didn't update the owners manual....
As noted you don't need to but it's good practice to always leave your manual transmission in gear when you park.
I make sure to put it in a gear (any gear) when I park it out in public...like at Wal Mart. When it is at home in the garage, I just pull the brake but leave it in neutral.

IIRC, it says it's not required, but is recommended, and I'm sure for this specific reason. The parking brake is really pretty marginal, so having it in reverse helps.
