I had my 2008 wheels aligned last year in November and it was out showing wear on the front left inside tread, it was covered under warranty and all 4 was out.. Last Friday I took my car to Discount tire to get the wheels rebalanced (road force) because there was a vibration in the wheel about 80 mph and above. The tires are factory and the wheels are OEM in black chrome. The car has only 10,000 miles on it, The right front showed more wear on the inside tread. Today I took it back to the dealer for alignment and they said that all 4 wheels were out of alignment again, of course there was no charge but has any one had this much trouble with there alignment on there C6?
My 2005 has been out of alignment with each check except this last one. I'm more vigilant about it now. I wear out the fronts before the rears anyway, so in my case I don't think it's a problem with the car, just me and the environment.
I remember reading threads about C6 owners needing a toe adjustment on their brand new car. Your issue doesn't really surprise me at all really. I plan on having my alignment checked right out of the box.
...I plan on having my alignment checked right out of the box.
That's exactly what I did. Suspected there was a problem based on a bit of highway wander/tracking. And from what I've read, it's not uncommon for the C6 alignment to be out-of-spec from the factory.
I told the dealer I'd pay if the alignment checked-out OK. It did not, and was aligned at no charge under warranty.
Been great ever since (14k miles), but I drive pretty easy with lots of highway miles.
The problem can probably be solved by properly tighting the nuts on the ecentric bolts. if you have marked the cams when the alignment was done you would most likly see that it had moved because the nut had not been torqued properly. Most alignment guys just use a big wrench, the right way is to use the wrench on the bolt and tighten the nut with a torque wrench! so moral of this story is find a good shop.........preferably a race shop. then double check the cambolts
