The recall states in part, "Consequence:
IF THERE IS A COMPLETE SEPARATION, THE ROOF PANEL MAY DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN, IT COULD STRIKE A FOLLOWING VEHICLE AND CAUSE INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE."
How about including "death" in the possible consequences. What chance would a motorcyclist have after being struck!

A member of the self-appointed "Forum Police" has spoken. For everyone else who can see past their nose, keep an eye out for the recall notice and make sure you get it taken care of because if you don't and your roof flies off and hurts someone or some thing, GM is no longer liable.

there was and they injected adhesive foam into the roof panel as a fix, apparently they are ordering a replacement. I'm more surprized that you did'nt know what the fix was considering thats been around for more than three years

all you had to do was go to the dealer and they will put the "new" latches in, had mine done last year 08

"In honor of jpee"
I thought I recall reading that some Z06s, even tho not a removable roof, did have delamination issues, too.

Recall on 22,000 Corvettes for painted roofs.
My guess is that the ones that were fixed and not replaced were not fixed as well as they hoped.

I don't have too much info yet, but if you have a 2005, 2006 or 2007 with a painted top, you're going to want to call your local dealer and have them run your VIN.

As stated in the article.
"The automaker will begin notifying owners in January and will reimburse motorists who have already gotten their roofs repaired or replaced."
Wonder if you bought a glass roof to replace the solid one, don't have a receipt because bought privately, wonder if gm will reimburse you? if they do, by how much? wonder if you still need the defective roof to give back. so many questions, i guess the answers will eventually surface.

This is good news for me. In the summer of 07 a local dealer supposedly reglued my Z roof, however I can prove the head liner was never removed.
Since I live in the northeast and the car has never seen enough heat/sun to make it seperate I figured I'd be stuck with the bill if it ever did.
