I don't have too much info yet, but if you have a 2005, 2006 or 2007 with a painted top, you're going to want to call your local dealer and have them run your VIN.

Dave
You can also call the GM Recall center. 1-800-630-2438.
They will run your VIN and tell you instantly whether your vehicle is affected or not. I have a 2007 Z06. They told me my car is not affected nor are there any open recalls on my car.

I called that GM # and my dealer ,they have no idea what's going on! They keep referring to the "glue"recall of 2007.

Does this affect people who have had new roofs already installed? I had a new top put on my 06 about a year and a half ago so I should be good, correct? I believe I have a roof made of the newer material. I thought I remember you could check the color of the material on the bottom side of the top.

Default Roof Replacement Recall

I checked with my dealer yesterday and told him what I was reading on the forum. I told him I wanted know if it affected me. He pulled my vin only to tell me that my roof panel was replaced when the car had 1900 miles on it back in 2006. I bought the car used back in April of this year with only 5700 miles on it. So, for now I'm happy to know that the roof was replace. Now I don't have to worry anymore. TIM$VETT

Default Too Soon!

Today I happened to be in my local Dealership and I asked about the recall. They pulled my VIN record and said they don't have any recall listed. I have a mid year 2007 C6.

Later in the day, I called the GM number listed on the recall and they said the same thing as the dealer. I then asked them to research the recall a bit more. Finally, a 'supervisor' got on the phone and informed me that they have received no information regarding the top recall.

(Editorial note: They didn't have a clue!)

Looks like it takes more than a few days for this information to pass through the information channels of GM.

As it said in the release, the program is due to start in January so I guess we just have to sit tight for a few weeks.

Happy New Year...

Lou

If anyone is interested, here is a link to the details on the recall. This may be useful if you have a 2007 and are wondering whether your car is included or not. Fortunately for me mine is not going to be part of the recall since it is a January 07 build and the affected cutoff is August 06.

Looks like you can all thank the Japanese govenment for forcing the US to finally issue a recall on this. Makes you wonder what we are paying taxes for.
