Just recently sold a 99 C5 A4 and bought a 07 C6 MN6. I'm running lower rpms in 6th at 70 with the 3.42 rear gears, and it gets very good gas mileage from what I've seen so far. Seats are much better (not the base - the 3LT), it runs better, rides better and really feels like its digging in on the corners, maybe because it seems stiffer. I like the looks of the C5 better - the rear end of the C6 seems like it stops too abruptly, but I do like the looks of the front, even though it doesn't have the pop up headlights. Guess I'm not a purist. The fob thing is really cool and the quality and fit seem better.

+30 hp or 36 hp with NPP over LS2

Additionally, the steering, auto trans and interior center stack & console are improved in the '08 -'10 models over the previous C6 years.

Default C5 - c6

World of difference. I have had C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and now a C6 2008. The C6 has more power, comfort & better handeling.

The only issues i had with my 01 Z06 was it was a bit rough riding and the battery would go dead after a few weeks of sitting.

My 09 Z06 is faster, looks better and the ride is a bit better at least so far in my mind. I did love that 01 though!

Not in my case. I had a C4 and a C5. When it came time to buy a new car, it was the C5 that had to go. My C5 was the absolute WORST Vette I ever owned. POS CAR. I'm much happier now with the C4 and the C6. Was I clear enough when I said the C5 was a HORRIBLE CAR?

Like you, I had an '04, and I loved it (see pic to the left). Have had the '07 now for a little over a month. I feel a big difference in power, the ride is similar, but with less creaks. The leather is a little better, and the interior doesn't look too dated as compared to the C5.

Just do it, you'll like it!!!!

I never owned a C5. I never would. No offense , but to me the C5 seems to big and wide. The interior( 2 friends of mine have C 5's ) seems old school GM. I never liked the look of it. Having European sports cars made me appreciate the smaller size of the C6. But , I am a newbie, not a purist. All I can say is my friends with Porsche 911's and BMW M3's say the C6 is the only Vette they would consider.

I was the original owner of a 97 that I kept for 6 years. The car was great. I never had any real problems with the car. I followed that with an 03Z that I kept for 6 years. Never had any real problems with that car either. I just went with an 08 C6Z. This car is heads and shoulders above the C5 and is a fantastic car. Although I always preferred the stock C5 shifter the 08 C6 manual transmission is much better shifting than the C5 tranny. However, there are things I do not like about the car. First, I do not like the keyless ignition. I would much rather have a key that I can turn to a certain position and know that the ignition is on, off or in accessory position; Second, I would prefer regular door handles Vs the fancy door electrical door pads. The biggest thing I will miss from the C5 is the ability to call up the diagnostic codes on the DIC. With the C6 you are pretty much stuck with the dealer as far as determining what codes are present on the car. As with the C5 most failures are not powertrain related and the cheap scanners that most shops use will not access the non-powertrain codes.

Probably for the same reason mine hasn't changed. I can't figure out how to change it. Simple to some, difficult for others.

Too many needless gimmicks on the C-6. I prefer my C-5 ('00) over the C-6 ('09). C-5 gets better mileage. I also prefer my '62 over the C-6 for all out fun.

I went from a 04 C5...

...to a 05 C6

The difference is HUGE! Don't let let anyone tell you different. Yes the C5 is an awesome car, but the C6 is much much better. Go drive one (preferably a Z51) and you'll want to trade your C5 in immediately .

C6 is like another world compared to the c5.What took me 5 grand to achieve power wise in my 01 was there the second I hit the gas in my 05 and now my 08 is even better. The c6 is better looking, handling, faster and all around nicer car, though not perfect by any stretch. Every time I see a c5 now it looks old. It's got a big, wide butt and I was never a fan of WIDE BOOTY!!

Coming from a C5Z to a C6Z, I can honestly say there is a night and day difference between the two in every aspect. I really and truly loved the C5 but the overall performance, build quality, comfort and appeal of the C6 is a giant leap ahead.

No offense to the C5's because I'd have kept em both if I could but given the choice......C6.

I've never owned a C5 but alway's liked it's stance. Just looks mean. However, I like the C6 better and by most accounts, is more refined overall. The C5 does have a more raw power feel, by most accounts as well.

I have both. A '01 M6 coupe, lowered, F45 which I run 4-5 autocrosses a year, drive on weekends and occasionally drive to work. 2 long trips from California. Definitely has a larger cargo area in back and about a couple inches more legroom. The C6 is a '07 LS2 A6 F55 coupe which we took to Mt Rushmore last summer. Drove the C6 to work recently and I commented to my wife when I got home "I could get used to the C6 as a daily driver". Granted that the C5 has been modified and the C6 is bone stock so you can feel the "sports car" in the C5 while the C6 is almost like the family sedan with "stones". Love both. If I had to give up one I'd keep the C6. Apples and oranges or more precisely apple cider and oranges. You can't go wrong with either one but I would lean towards the newer.

I had the opposite experience, I owned an 84 Vette and it was the biggest POS car I ever owned. It would be quicker to list the things that actually worked properly on it than to list the things that did work properly! That car was a complete nightmare! On the other hand, my C5 has been an incredibly reliable daily driver.
