Not sure what type of squeak you are hearing. If the pad wear indicators are squeaking you could have an issue, however, the noise from them usually sounds quite a bit different from normal pad squeaks. ...
I'm hearing it from the right rear only.
The wear indicators look like they are about 1/16 inch from the rotors.
I will probably take the car to Carmax since its still under the 30 day warranty. I'll ask them to replace the pads since they're nearly worn out.

Thanks! If CarMax won't replace them then I will probably take you up on that offer (except I'll pay postage). I'm taking the car in for service on Wednesday.

hmmmm... changed to ceramics, no squeak, squall nothing.. Had the dealer flush and refill the brake system, squeak and squall.. Used the hard breaking method to no avail.. time for a GS I guess
I put a set of cermamic pads on about a year ago on my wifes 07 and the last 3 months they squeal like a f'n pig. And yes they are GM pads and they were bedded. Just my luck.

same here...did the bedding process and still squeal. i bought some backing to add that is suppose to eliminate the squeal...will get back to you.

Put 11,000 miles on my 05 Z51 with no brake noise. Changed to GM ceramics to get rid of the dust. The dust is gone, and they were quiet for a few months. Now the fronts are noisy as hell. Took them in and they were quiet for awhile and now the noise is back. The heavy braking cure method didn't do a damn thing. I have noticed that they are quiet for about two days after the car is washed which makes me think disc brake quiet on the back of the pads might be the solution. Brake noise often results from vibration between the back of the pad and the caliper piston. That's why disc brake quiet on the back of the pad works yet these pads are supposed to be installed without it.
Let's hear some opinions on the disc brake quiet cure!

Similar experience.
On 1/30 I switched from metallic to ceramic (as posted above). Now 5 weeks later the squeaking is back!
At first the brakes squeaked during backwards stops. And now they squeak on forward stops too -- just like they did with the metallic pads.
I think the noise is from the same wheel when I had the metallic pads. I'm wondering if I have a bad brake rotor?

anyone ever use this stuff?
o Your Car Brakes Squeal?
Brake squealing can be stopped once you spray Squeal Medic on your brake rotors and drums. If you just got new brakes on your automobile and they are making noise when you stop your car, Squeal Medic is the solution your looking for.
At only $13.95 a can, this is the most cost effective and simplest way to prevent and stop brakes that squeal and make noise when stopping your car.
If your a brake shop and have customers complain about squealing brakes or noisey brakes after installation, Squeal Medic can solve your problems.
Directions: for professional use only!
1. Shake can well before using.
2. Use on a clean system.
3. Before assembling the unit, spray a light coat (2 seconds) directly onto
the rotor or drum surface. Use sparingly. Then assemble unit.
4. After assembling the unit, drive the vehicle appliying the brakes 5 to 8
times while driving at low speed.

Interesting, they say to spray it directly onto the rotor. I'd be curious to know if it works also.
When I swapped to ceramic pads, I used 'Permatex Disc Brake Quiet'. It goes on the back (metal side) of the pads, not the rotor. It didn't solve the problem for me.
So now I'm going to try some new stuff named 'CRC Disc Brake Quiet'. It's a light red paste that comes in a squeeze bottle. Bought it at AutoZone. We will see if it works.
I've read everything from just live with it to keep changing brakes until one works best. On my 2010 Base Coupe, I just had my brakes replaced with new Hawk ceramic and the noise went away for a few weeks, then came back. Took the car back to the shop and had them to check the brakes again. The rotors are fine, they said it was the brake clip. That lasted every bit of 3 hours and the noise was back again. I'm just annoyed because I am not sure what to do at this point. I only hear the squeal on the left rear tire so maybe its something more specific. Need a solution!!
I've been hearing my brake squeaking on the 2008 that I've had for 11 days. Its got 29.5K miles and its still under its 30 day warranty from Carmax and the 3 year/36K mile GM warranty..
I think the noise is coming from the right rear disc brake (which has drilled rotors). Is this something I can easily fix, or would it be covered by the factory warranty?
I am currently a service advisor for a VW dealer and have customers who complain of the same thing. My Z51 has done it and my old Yukon did it. If you tend to brake lightly most of the time the brake dust that is produced creates a glazing on the pads and rotors. When you start getting the squealing, just use a little more pedal pressure for the next few stops and the noise will go away. Customers have a hard time accepting this until I take them out and show them. Works every time when there is plenty of pad material left.
