Question - Orange light near passenger side visor
#22
LED AMBIENT light
I have read it several posts that the little light on the passenger visor was discontinued or not installed on the 08 models. I have a C6 08, vert, automatic, and , this is my 5th C6 in 10 years, I never noticed it before this one, which I bought 2 weeks ago, and I have it. What is it really for? Can it be when there isn't a passenger and the airbag is not activated? Or if a small child sitting in pass seat not weighing enough doesn't activate? Like I said i have had 5 C 6's in the last 10 years ranging from 05 to 08 convertibles and coupes all automatics. If anyone knows any further information please let me know. Thank you, g-man

It's supposed to provide some ambient lighting on the console at night but the LED is so dim it does nothing. Some of us installed a brighter LED which works well. It sounds dumb but it's a nice, very subtle effect once you have a bright LED in there. I'm surprised your '08 has it.
My VW SUV has 2 red LEDs shining down from the RV mirror for the same purpose.

It's the stupidest light ever.
There is literally no reason for the light. You cannot turn enough of the cabin lights off to make the cabin dark enough to need it.
The light was there till half-way through the '08 MY, and the wiring was there through the end of the MY.
