A couple of times in the past month I have left my keys in my car as it is easy to do since you don't use them to start the ignition, as you may already know if they are left in there too long, the FOBS shut off and your car locks automatically.... this is super inconvenient since my spare set of keys is 20 miles away, is there anyway I can get into my car and get the keys out without having to have somebody drive my spare to me?
Keep one of the keys in your wallet or other place on your person. Use the key to open the back hatch, then pull the cable on the left side that opens the door.
However, the best plan is to keep the fob in your pocket at all times that you're in or near the car.
Turn off the autolock feature and this will never happen to you. It will however require that you remember to lock the car when you want it to be locked. This is just like what is required if you own almost any other car on the road.

Why leave them in the car to begin with, unless you wear clothes that do not have pockets. The car will start with the FOB in your pocket.
Don't provide so much information. We don't want to overwhelm the OP.

What? Just like almost any other car on the road? Surely not!
Honestly, I just don't get the fascination with the autolock feature. Its not as if its something that people have become comfortable with because all cars have it. Almost no cars have it. For me its just easier to do what I have done with every other car I have ever owned and lock the car myself when I want it locked.

I would suggest instead not leaving the keys in the car, just like every other car on the road.
To get in: open the trunk using the mechanical key. If you don't have it either, call OnStar if you've got it, or break down and have someone drive the 20 miles.

It's not "fascination." It completes the purpose of a radio key fob. With autolock on you walk out to the car, get in, drive away, get out, walk away, and so on, without the fob ever leaving your pocket. Pretty much the ideal scenario.

1. Get a spare key (not a FOB). About $5 at a key shop... tell 'em to use blank B106 (see picture below).
2. Keep the key handy -- in your wallet, purse, Hide-A-key under the car, on a necklace chain, duct-tape to your ankle.
3. The key will manually open the trunk/hatch. Then pull the tab (on the left in the hatch area) to open the drivers door. Practice using the key, it may not be easy for you.
The best solution is keeping your keys in your pocket
The next best solution is Onstar and cell phone.
Yup.
I love the Auto Lock feature (which can be turned off). I never have to dig the FOB out of my pocket to lock, unlock, or start the car. I've had a C6 for over 4 years and never been locked out. All cars should be made this way.

Just to be clear, one never has to use the fob buttons to lock, unlock, or start the car if the autolock is disabled either. I never ever touch any of the buttons on the fob...it just sits in my pocket. It is a wonderful feature of the car.
Sometimes I get the feeling that people think they must have the autolock feature enabled in order to leave the fob untouched in a pocket. This is not true.
I'm not trying to start an argument or corner you but why would you (or anyone) ever take the fob out of your pocket?
Just below is my reason......
This is Jeanne she races my car at Englishtown on Corvette Challenge races.... when she drives the seat is closer to the wheel.. I'm taller and it has to be back further...
While at the track we BOTH have to get in at various times, sometimes her .. or me (depends on which class is called to race)
So at the track I leave the fob in the car.... and whoever has to drive just gets in and pushes the button #1 or 2 for the correct seat, & mirror settings... works great..
However when I'm not racing ...the fob stays in my pocket until the car is back in the garage...
I really enjoy the auto lock feature.
Fob stays in a inner change pocket of my pants.
Walk to the car, touch the door pad and enter.
Get out and wait for the horn to sound when it locks and walk away.
Only time I take the Fob out of the pocket is when it's time to throw the pants in the wash.
Of course then I have to make sure I remember to take the Fob out first

Ask a gang of car thieves. They know more about this topic than all of us combined. Or (in non-sarcastic mode), if GM made an easy way to get into a vehicle, the thieves would take full advantage of it.
