What could be done to further reduce the weight of a GS? Not saying i would just wondering if it would be easy or expensive to shave a 100 pounds or so off. I know the easiest way to reduce the weight is carbon fiber sides and such. Anything else that can been cut back?

thanks, Brett
Put only three gallons of gas in the tank and save something like 105 lbs or so.
Other than running light on fuel it depends how much you want to modify or gut your new car (if at all). Hanging-out with Corvette road racers I've seen all kinds of weight reducing modifications from totally gutted Corvettes with full fiberglass/carbon fiber body shells and everything in-between.
My closest C6 racing friend has a highly modified C6 and just did some things to reduce weight. He replaced the hood...drilled or 'louvered' it to lighten weight and vent heat; removed most of the interior carpeting and insulation; replaced both side doors with 'shell' doors (no glass and the support structure was drilled-out wherever possible); removed the passenger seat; replaced the driver's seat with a lighter weight racing seat; replaced and lightened the rear hatch using lexan instead of glass. I'm guessing he'll replace the windshield with lexan soon. The good thing is he can put the stock seats, hood, hatch and doors back on in about day if he wants.
A simple thing that saves a little weight is to remove your window washing reservoir. You could go to lighter weight wheels. I wouldn't do it but you could replace the OEM battery with a light weight 'racing' battery. Any weight reduction helps but to achieve anything significant IMO involves making some real changes. As always...don't take a passenger with you. Good luck!
