Wanted to know your radar detector brand suggestions and experiences is the Escort 9500ix worth the price, anyone have one they want to get rid of and why?
Escort, Valentine, Beltronics, Cobra....do some research and find out what best suites your needs. For me the Escort 9500ix works fine, I like the GPS capability along the other new technology built into it.
The V1 gives you counts and locations. You should check it out. We have 4 in our family. Since the V1 came out it has consistently won or come in second in every radar detector shoot off out there. When they change the detector, they will upgrade your detector ($100 I think).
It is big and heavy. The suction cups could be better. But it just works. Period. I am totally satisfied with the V1.

Have V-1 in all 3 cars. There is a special bracket available to mount the V1 on the passenger side visor and eliminate the cups.
Well let me put my flame suit on and break the cycle here. I bought a Whistler Pro 78 for $88.00, have had it for around 2 years. It has saved me several tickets, works fine, does give off a lot of false signals in the city, but you learn those spots after awhile. I place it on a dash mat the type used for cell phones etc. and all is good. I have thought of buying a V1 or the Escort but have to say the Whistler does the job, even gives you the type of signal it is detecting vocally.
I have the 9500ix, and IMO yes its worth what it costs.
I have had mine for over a year and travel from San Antonio to Dallas every other month to visit family and after the second trip false alarms were mostly gone and now seldom get one. Oh in Dallas area those redlight cameras are everywhere and I like knowing that. Very happy with my choice
Cool! I was wondering when someone would start a RD thread. No one ever wants to talk about this subject and trying to find any past threads on it is darn near impossible. Hopefully we can sticky this one so it isn't so hard to find RD opinions in the future. Mods, sticky, FAQ, something! Who knows how long it might be before this subject comes up again? Please don't let it disappear!
Your next big search after deciding which radar detector to buy is where & how to mount it. There are suction cups that attach directly to the windshield, bean bags that sit on your dash, specially fabricated metal tabs that attach to the base of your visor clip, and mounts that attach to your rear view mirror.
Sometime this coming spring I hope to receive test model of a new BlendMount for my Escort 9500ix. This below-the-mirror mount will be custom designed for the C6 and made from a CNC-machined block of anodized 6061 T6 aluminum. The guys at MGT Motorsports are currently working on a Porsche/VW version. In late January they told me a C6 version would be next in "about three months".

Could you provide a link please. This is where I want to mount mine and I have figured out where I will place the remote display for the V1. Between the driver pod and the center CF pod mounted vertically.
