Default TPMS learning after wheels changed

I purchased a set of tires and wheels (mounted) off of a 2009 that I will be installing on my 2005 Z51 this weekend. I understand that my TPMS will need to "learn" how to recognize the new units.

Is there any way of doing this without a tool? If not, I'm hoping that most well equipped tire stores have a tool?

Thanks in advance for your help

I understand that you will need a tool and yes most tire shops will have this. It will take a good 3-4 minutes to do the process + drive time.

You'll be able to tell how decent the tire shop is by how much they charge you for this 5 minute (max) procedure.

The hardest part for a tire store is to figure out how to get the car into the program mode, since all cars are different...so you can save them some time. Put the ignition in the accessory mode, then hold the lock and unlock buttons on the fob simultaneously until you hear the horn honk...the tire guys can take it from there.

I can do it with my TPMS tool in less than 1 minute, so don't pay alot.

If you want to zip across Nevada, I'll help you do it...
