Default TPMS Question

I have stock Rims/Tires on the car now, looking to replace with some Reproduction RIMS AND new tires...since the new rims do not come with a TPMS and my old rims/tires have them in there, can I have the dealer take out the old TPMS while leaving the tire on the old rim? Or would it be easier to just buy new (or used) TPMS for the new tire/rim combo so I can still use the old set if needed?

Sure...I'd remove the TPS's and use them with the new wheels.

Easy for you to do. The sensors are the valve stems. If you have any thoughts of using both sets, I'd buy another set of sensors.

Un screwed. The nut that holds the stem inside is OUTSIDE the rim.

Ah excellent, thank you! i'm assuming this needs to be done with no air in the tire right? To be safe...

You can not remove the sensors without removing the tires, unless you have a tire machine handy it not something you do by yourself.

However if you buy another set of wheels and tires and a new set of sensors, you can switch wheel setups at will, with just a recode of the sensor computer for the new sensors any decent tire store will do that for you.

To remove a sensor, you have to break the bead of the tire off the rim which is not something you can do. I would leave those sensors and get a new set...lots of deals on them are out there.

Here's a pic of a sensor from BEZ06....as you can see, they come right out, but they do so from the back, not from the front, so the bead of the tire must be broken off the rim to get at them from the back.

They do come right out. The nut as mentioned earlier is on the outside, so guess where the rest must be (since you already know the sensor is the valve stem) Did you take a look at your wheel?
It's pretty self expanatory if you look at your wheel. I have a feeling you better let a tire shop do this for you...

I recently went to the local chevy dealer(Estero bay)and they wanted 50.00 for each wheel, because they have to collapse the sidewall to get the tpms out,(kinda diffucult the dealer told me)if you dont want to swap out the tpms its 40 a tire,so I replaced my oem wheels and tires with aftermarket offset, deepdish but went elsewhere for the tire swap (with the tpms swap)I just got done yesterday, here a couple of pics with my camera phone
