Not the mechanical type what's a zirk fitting

If your C6 doesn't have the Z51 option package, your car doesn't have zirk fittings.

Follow the owner's manual recommendation. Unless you race the car or drive it very hard any more is unnecessary time, effort and expense.

That looks like the page right out of the 2005 Manual.
Don't forget the suspension alignment which is crucial to your tire wear.
I notice they sure do keep an eye on the fuel system maybe better throw a bottle of Chevron Techron in there and use Chevron gas.

Yep, I use Chevron or BG44K every oil change. Good PM for the fuel system.

A zirk fitting is the little stainless fitting used to get lubricant into a joint...Used to be, when you took your car in for "lube, oil and filter" - -that's what they fitted the lube gun onto.

I'll see if I can find a picture to add . . .but as noted, the Z51 optioned cars have a zirk fitting to lube inside each rear wheel/suspension area.

Yes, that's true LS WON, a Z51 rear suspension does have two joints with zerk fittings that require lube.........I'm familiar with the Z51 since I own an 06 Z51. But the pics do give an accurate depiction (in response to the question) of what the zerk fittings look like. The pics also indicate the joints haven't been lubed in a while and the dust cover boots are collapsed. The two suspension(s) zerk fittings are identical. And there are more than two suspensions that include the zerk fittings...........ZO6, Z51, F55, and GS.

So does this mean I have to remove wheels to find lub area to oil?

Nope. With a flexible hose attachment for your grease gun, they are fairly easy to reach.

The Zirk fittings are on the rear tie rod ends by the wheels. Just lift the rear of the car and you can squeeze in and put the grease gun hose on the fittings. No need to pull the wheels.

Just don't over grease those zirks. If you do, you'll have grease flung all over the inside of your rear wheels.
