Default Price Advice, please...

Looking to move up from a 94 C4 to a 06 C6. Is $34K a good price for this C6? Edmunds shows dealer retail of $31K.

Yellow, 10K miles.
6-Speed Manual
3LT
Dual Roof
OnStar (Not that I care)
Z51
Polished Alum Wheels
Navigation (I guess that's nice)

Is there anything about the '06 to be concerned about?

With such low mileage are there worries since the warranty has expired?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to moving up

The only price point I can give you is my '08 with 6500 miles on it. It is an A6 1LT and the Kelly Blue Book is approximately $35,750.

I can give you an option-for-option price that I paid:

VY, '06 @ 9600 miles. Southern Calif car still in warranty at purchase date, April, 09. 3LT, Navi, On Star, 6m, chrome wheels, LoJack already installed, painted roof only ....$30,500. I added a Magnaflow cat back and a K&N for a steal of $500 for both! The car is everything I need...plenty fast enough to get me in trouble, loud enough to know it is a growling American V8 and just enough "bling" to have people compliment on it's appearance......the guy needed to sell it as he was car poor at the time. Dealers around the country could not and would come close to this price at the time as the then retail on this car was over $35,000...but who pays retail, especially now with Corvettes going begging in some areas. I still have only 14,500 miles on it but doubt I could sell it for over $28,000 in today's market....it is now my daily driver but I work out of my home.

Seems a little high to me. I bought my 07 last year with 11k miles for $32,000. Then again it wasn't a z51. It's a manual 2LT.

Thanks, I appreciate all the feedback. Present C4 is yellow, which I've grown to like. Yellow is not as easy to come by, it would seem. Present car is automatic, I want manual this time around.

You've got the same problem I had. LMB was the only color I wanted, and there were only 2 in the country with low miles, and I didn't want to wait for mos and mos.

Both were firm on their price, they were:

2006 non Z51 8k mi 3LT A6 other options $31.5k
2007 Z51 A6 11k mi. after mkt add ons which I wanted $1k black wheels, $2k Corsa exh. $1k +35 hp speed chip $35.5k

I took the 07 for $35.5k, guy delivered car from 250 away. A year is worth about $3k, and I figured I'd have to spend $3k to get the wheels and exhaust, so if 06 is 31.5k, 34.5k + 3K + 1K (Z51- 1600 new), so about a $3k advantage.

I paid top dollar for the 07, seems like you should be around $32k tops for that car based on the two I was looking at.

Dealer or private party?

Might be worth close to $34k from a dealer IF it's exactly what you want AND it's a 1-owner garage queen AND it's got new tires/battery/wipers AND there's a return policy AND etc etc.

Might be worth $28k (or less) from a private party IF it's got dings, scratches, original oil, no maintenance, questionable history, many owners, worn tires, damaged interior (driver's seat?)... you get the idea.

Eyes Wide Open. It's a buyer's market, so enjoy your search for a C6!

The $34K is a dealer price. And then you get to add 7% tax. The car does seem to be exactly what I want in terms of color/options. It is a 1-owner car and appears to have been garaged (condition + low mileage). With the age I had thought about the battery however had no concern over the wipers and tires. There is a return policy of some sort, but that's probably state mandated buyers remorse.

So I had thought about a new battery and fresh oil. You guys think it might needs tires too (10K on factory tires)? If I were to get new tires not sure I'd want them from the dealer. They may put just whatever on the car.

One big concern is a low mileage car that's out of warranty. I don't see much in the way of complaints on the forum, but are there common issues that might be lurking with this car that may not have occurred with such low usage?

I appreciate all the feedback, I'm taking it all in .

You know you are on the forum where we want everything for less and sell it for top $$. Now this may be a tad high on price, however if this is the one you want and is in great shape (should be at 10k) go for it and offer 31k and see where the middle ground is

Price is high but.....like others are saying, if it's what you want, see what you can do, but don't walk away from a good car over a few dollars.

You could contact Dennis Fichtner to inquire about a warranty. He had a promotion going, don't know if he still does, on a warranty for cars that don't qualify for the GMPP. Just a suggestion.

"Again anyone needing a quote, please send me your current miles for an accurate quote.
dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com"

Edit: If you have the VIN, Dennis can also provide you with a GM VIS service report.

That price is too high for a 06, for a 08 or 09 it would be a good price.

The car is "GM Certified Used", so comes with 12mo/12k warranty. What's that worth? A little piece of mind I suppose. Problem is clock about 300+ miles per week daily driving. So I'd only get about 10 months out of it.

Certified doesn't add that much to the car price wise.Dealer probably 300-500 for it if that.

I told you I paid up for an LMB Z51 07. I've been looking at other same cars, and so far I do not regret paying what I did for it.

The trade off is between the time you have to wait for a lower priced vehicle to come along. Depending on your luck, 6 mos of looking might get you what you want $2k-3k cheaper.

If you are willing to look anywhere in the country, fine, but you'll have to factor in shippinng costs for the car, and traveling costs for you to get there. If the car is close, it has at least a $1k advantage probably 1.5k.

I bought my 07 the day the original 3yr warr expired, and bought an extended one from Dennis 60/60, for a great price. I don't think you can get a GMPP since the car is older than 36 mos.

Well I sat on the idea too long (like 3 or 4 days) and the car sold. Cars are worth what the market will bear. With the internet the market is larger than the location of the car. I'm in Atlanta and someone in Raleigh bought it (same dealership I think). So the search continues.

Should have listened to the "if it's the car you want, buy it" advice.

I found another at a good price in CT but am unsure about how to go about buying a car 800 miles away. I'll post that question separately.
