Does a vette make a dependable daily driver?
Hi, I love these cars. Do you think it would be dependable enough for a daily driver? I'd probably get a base model, nothing fancy like the z06 or zr1. I like the idea of having 400+ hp in a car that's lightweight, has good handling, and still gets relatively good fuel mileage.

My '05 was my DD for the first 2 1/2 years. It worked for me as a DD, but since I've been showing it then and now, it sure helps to keep it clean and shiny to garage it except on week-ends and Vette events.

I've had a C6 for a daily driver for 5.5 years now. I've put about 50,000 miles on the three of them during that time.

Go for it, I'm going on 3 years and over 50K already in mine... even works in the snow here in Iowa most of the time as long as you get a set of Pirelli snow tires on your spare rims for winter.

2007 dd at 91k miles. They were made to drive as long as you can afford tires and maintenance. Only repairs so far fuel sender and sway bar end links...both covered by warranty.

You should put where you live, so we have more context to a question like this.
I wouldn't have any other car as my daily driver. Put 103k mi. on a 91 over 11 years (part of the time I worked in Asia, so it sat). Had one before that I put about 80k mi on in 4 years.
I'm living in CA now, from Chgo, so there's no reason to drive anything else. If you take care of them, they don't depreciate that much faster than other cars. And, they are built much heavier duty than your average car. Compare the Vette's suspension system to your average SUV, it blows it away.

haha.. Thanks for all the replies! I like what i'm hearing so far. I live in CA, so snow (and even rain for that matter) is a non-issue. Seems like maintenance and longevity for these cars is like any other. Or is it more like BMW where you can only take it to the dealer for service? I like to work on my own cars...
