Does your 2005 have a separate emergency key outside of the fob?
For my 2008 the "key" is enclosed in the fob.
Yes. The 2005-2007 models had a slightly larger FOB with a separate key. When delivered, the FOB and key were on a key ring with a bar code tag (the bar code had letters and numbers below it for what I assume are ID reasons for replacement.) I added the pencil to block the bar code from sleeze.

Interesting! My 05 I does not have a center console lock, I didn't know there even was such a thing.
Pictures please.
Note:
I'm using a Saturn key. The Chevy key has been crossed to a Satrun blank. They're much cheaper than having a key cut at the Chevy dealer. The key has nothing to do with the lock failure. It's an exact copy of the key for the Vette.

OMFG! My car does have this! For 5-years I had no idea. Because of the shadows, etc., I never saw the small cut out in the black plastic. I had just thought that this was a plastic tab securing that portion of the console to the car. Even now I had to bend down and look closely. Wow...just wow.

Yeah, that's the ticket..you can get those blanks and the keys cut at any True Value Hardware. That is, assuming all the Saturn key blanks haven't been pitched!
The catch on the plastic latch on mine is broken so I didn't think the lock would work. However, I tried it out and see that the locking latch is different (it's a metal latch that swings up when the key is turned) and mine works perfectly. I'm glad I went and looked at it.

You don't know how funny that is. The only one to clean my car is me and that is once per week. I cannot even use that as an excuse....

For you? It will have to be twice a week Zaino does sell a leather cleaner and conditioner for the seats so that should get you closer and put you right in that neighborhood of that console lock on driver side seat.

I have the Zaino products. Been using them for 10 years or so.
It gets worse. Early on I removed the console several times to do things related to the radio.
The lock was deleted from 2006 onward, so I guess it is possible some late 2005s did not include it either ... Talon will probably chime in with the definitive answer.
To the OP ... no sympathy from those of us with no lock
In all seriousness, since I do not have a lock, I have never looked at one. Good luck!
The center console lock was not deleted from the 2006. Maybe 2007, but definitely not 2006. I have a fairly late build 2006 and it has it.

Honestly, there is no saving me. [/QUOTE]
We have all continued to pay the Corvette tax. Now some of us has Corvette OCD.
When I had my 2006 with the console lock, I never used the lock feature, and I suspect very few owners did. My Vette was always locked, and if somehow they broke in to it, a "locked" console would not have have stopped them from breaking it open and causing even more damage.
With that said, correct me if I am wrong, but did not the 2005/6 have a separate emergency key with the fob, I know my 2008 has the key enclosed in the fob. This would have made it more difficult to pull it out of the fob and lock/unlock the console, maybe this is why the console lock was finally eliminated.
Maybe Talon/Paul can provide the real answer.
I have a convertible and almost always drive w/ top down, often leaving it parked for short periods of time while I run into a store. I keep my radar detector, phone charger, etc in the center console when not using them.
Yes, a separate key easily used to lock the console.

We need a bigger deeper console to store the above items in.
If you have a GMPP wait until something else needs fixing. The $100 co pay is per visit not per repair. So if you have two or three things to get fixed it's still a hundred bucks.
Mine was built in March 05 and it has a lock on the center console, which is broken as well.
Ditto my 05 last year the lock did the same thing. I was able to unlock it by pulling on the lever from uder the panel, but haven't got around to seeing if I can fix it yet.

my 2005 has both locks but the console lock is broken. I would like to fix it so when my roof is off I can lock the console. anyone know how to repair it without taking console apart?
