So I cleaned up the vert yesterday and I started it thinking I would put it back in the garage, but my wife decided to take it for a drive before I did that (funny how she couldn't do it before I cleaned it up). About 15 minutes after she left with the car I remembered I still had the FOB in my pocket, so I thought she had hers with her, but after I checked, nope it was still in her desk drawer. Thank goodness she didn't decide to stop somewhere or she would have been screwed.
Is the car suppose to do that (function normally without the FOB in close vicinity)?
No problem. It just needs to be there to get in and start it. If she shut it down you would have got a call.
Too bad I didn't know that at the time. If I was on my game as a joke, I should have called a state trooper friend of mine and given my wife a hard time by having him pull her over, have her shut the car off, and then let her explain not being able to start it after he was done with the usual license and registration deal.

No...What would have been funny is if the officer asked her to step out of the car....and she could not get the door to open! Then she would have been tased and pulled out the car and you would be single again!!!

LOL at the first part........ 2nd part not so much........ she's kind of nice to have around.

Once you start the car, you can toss the fob out the window, and drive 1,000 miles... once the engine is started, the car doesn't care about the fob any more.
Some people think that the fob has to be in the car for it to keep running; that the car periodically checks for fob proximity as you drive down the road... those people are wrong.

Thanks for the info..... I think if my wife reads this string over my shoulder, she may be more apt to throw me out the window and keep the FOB with her.
The question here is why was the car sitting in the driveway running?
The wife brought the car back, right? Someone else walking by probably would not have done that.
It wasn't "sitting in the driveway running". I started it (while sitting in it) to put it in the garage after cleaning it and my wife was was outside and stopped me and said let me take it for a spin quick.
I taught my wife how to open the doors manually just in case we are inverted with the battery disconnected. I am knocked out and the car is just barely on fire. Pull up on these red things.
