I was completely satisfied with my dealership service experience, until today. I went out to wash the vette. I always open up the hood, and dry the water that gets under the hood before it can leave spots.
Anyways, I open the hood and the entire engine bay is absolutely COVERED in yellow pollen. It's like they left it outside with the hood open (probably while they were doing the battery draw/charge).
My car's engine bay was pristine when I took it in. You could eat off it. There was enough yellow pollen, that I could write in it with my hand. It honestly looked like a 5-10 year old car's engine bay.
Luckily I had some canned air, and a lot of patience. It's about as close back to normal as I can get it for now. But I'm sure I missed some places.
The customer service liason at the dealer left a message on saturday, asking if I was happy and taken care of. I was gonna say yes, but this kinda pissed me off.
The pollen was horrible last week, and I have no problems with it getting on the outside. But to leave the hood open while outside is kinda bs.
I would certainly say something, would have been nice if you had taken some pictures of how they returned it to you. But I would talk to them and see what they have to say.
That's usually followed by a questionnaire from Detroit...? If you're not happy with your service let it be known. For what these cars cost to own/ service we really should get better service/ be treated like preferred customers!
I've owned imports before and understand why some people prefer the ownership experience over some American cars... I'm not hating on Detroit, but I have to say not all local dealerships give the same level of service and they should be called out for giving poor service.

I completely agree, but given their financial status, I doubt GM would ever approve such awesomeness.
Oh and now I've got some crazy targa top pop going on. There is another dealer about 20 minutes further, I could try them I guess.
Did you drive the car home from the dealer? With all the oleen in the air it can most certainly get under the hood. I am certainly not leaving the thearship an "out", I just suggesting that a lot of pollen in the air = a lot of pollen entering the engine compartment. My two cents.

I'm not sure if that's the case. Reason I'm saying is that I drive about half a mile on a dirt road. I get dust all over it, but the engine bay remains the same - clean. Unless pollen is thinner than dust, I'm just not sure how that would work out.
I certainly would mention it to them. The dealerships really depend on the CSI's. That survey form is the reason they are contacting you. Share with them your problem and tell them you will satisfied WHEN they detail the engine compartment and perhaps the entire car.

Unless this dealer's service department is surrounded by a forest, it's hard to imagine that all this pollen mysteriously collected while the car was in their control. I doubt that they worked on your car outside and left the hood open for hours in the process. A parasitic draw test doesn't take that long...and I doubt that some tech was doing it outside.
Look...if they gave you great service, give them credit for that and let the pollen issue go. You don't know that they caused it...and it wipes right off anyway. I'd gladly take that deal the next time I take my car in for service.
Yep! Let 'em know. If management is never told about these bonehead deeds they can't take steps to make sure it never happens again. Do you have any pictures of how it looked prior to cleaning?

definitely...I haven't been to the dealer but may car and the engine compartment are covered in pollen!
Some of you guys have clearly lost your freakin' minds!
Someone please explain what the dealer could have possibly done to cause this...and what do you think they could have done to prevent it?
Geez...unless they worked on this guy's car in a damn forest with the hood open for 12 straight hours, the dealer did NOTHING wrong. Maybe next time they should service all Vette's in their bodyshop downdraft paint booth during pollen season?!?!?!
I would be completely embarrased to complain about this. What's next...they got dirt on the tread of your tires?
If you do a google search, you will find out that this is the WORST year for pollen in 10+ years!
I'd mention it to the service manager in a 'nice' way. Living down a dirt road I'm not overly particular about the engine bay looking pristine but even I wouldn't like it getting unnecessarily covered in crap when it didn't have to.

The dealer raised your hood to work on it and some pollen got on the motor.
I may be in the minority but I would not mention it, since it probably occured when the hood was up for your repair -- and I would be worried that the next time they might remember the incident and endeavor to clean the engine compartment in a way that you might not approve.
