Shop vac, or lately I have been lightly pressing up on the mirror until it starts to flow out and use an absorbent towel. This is on a black '09.

I wait a couple hours and spend 20 seconds to clean the drip off the side of the door. You guys seriously spend all this time standing there with blowers so it doesnt drip????...i have better things to do.

That is pretty much what I do after every wash

Didn't I read somewhere where you can drill a small weep hole on the underside of the mirror? I think it said you run the risk of getting a whistling noise when driving at speed.

I've used the cover thingies and agree they're totally useless - why would you want to wrap those things around the mirrors before you wash the car? That would just rub the dirt right into the paint surface!

What I've done is just wash the car as normal. Then turn the mirrors to let the water drip out for a minute or so. The take "The Absorber" drying towel and force a corner (or two) into the space and suck out whatever water is left.

This obviously would be the option when you don't have a blower (or combine it with the blower).

I've used a leaf blower for years, initially for the engine on my Harley that would pool and weep for a long, long time. I use it on the cars for the mirrors, body panel seams and lights. Probably cuts drying time in 1/2 or more if used efficiently.

I don't want to appear rude, but I doubt many who say to use a blower can really relate to your unique issue, but rather to their own which may not be as severe. A blower does a great job drying the car and will get much water out from most mirrors, but I think some C6 mirrors are prone to be problematic.

It seems that from the factory, some mirrors DO NOT DRIP AT ALL, some drip VERY LITTLE, and some drip EXCESSIVELY as if the water builds up and is trapped, bleeding out little by little DESPITE A BLOWER.

I have owned two C6's. The first had NO issue at all even without a blower. When I read such complaints on the forum years ago, I simply could not relate because I did not have the problem (though I could relate with the tail light seals).

When I got my second C6, I could not believe the difference. It would literally leak for hours despite using a strong blower and regardless of the temperature (our summers are above 100 to 11x). Like you, mine leaves scummy mineral deposits that requires a polisher to eliminate.

I either wrap the mirrors in a plastic bag (similar to what Vette Suspension does) or avoid a direct spray to the mirrors. If I do spray the uncovered mirrors, I use a blower (a Toro Ultra 235 mph) and, after the car is dry, place a piece of paper towel against the base of the mirror to absorb the slow leak (affixes itself by the moisture leaking out). I then check back on it for the next couple of hours, swapping out the paper towel. Very annoying.

Again, nothing against those offering the blower advice, but the fact that some C6's leak even with a 235mph blower and others do not whatsoever indicates that something is occurring at parts, assembly, etc.

Regardless, hope you find a solution

Water dripped from the mirrors on my 08 coupe like crazy.
I use to wrap each mirror in Saran Wrap prior to washing.
It did the trick of keeping water out of the mirrors.
But it was a pain in the neck to use especially on windy days.
So I just purchased mirror seals and they work great.
But they're a pain to put on.

Mine drip on my black '08 too. I've found that the best solution involves two things.
  1. I use my CR Spotless water filter to take ALL the minerals out of the wash/rinse water. Dirps will absolutely never spot! Auto Geek has them. http://www.autogeek.net/cr-spotless-water-systems.html
  2. Use a leaf blower and not only blow from the rear of the mirror, but also blow from the front. A 200 mph blower aimed from the front will create a vacuum effect and suck the water right out.

In my opinion, The mirror covers do not work as I have tried them. The water still enters from the pivot point and drips down the car. My solution is to fold a microfiber towel in a triangle shape and tie it to the mirror post. It absorbs the water as it tries to drip down the side.

I do the exact same thing after hitting each mirror with the leaf blower for a minute or two. Works just fine.

Wrap a microfiber towel around the base of the mirrors after you dry the car. The blower worries me that I will blow debris on the paint.

C5 has this too. Just dry your vette as you normally would and then drive a couple miles around the block. (need to hit speeds of 45-50 sustained for a couple minutes on a boulevard for example). The mirrors will pee out the water onto your doors, then you can stop in an empty parking lot and shammy dry the doors with a damp shammy that you brought along in a plastic bag. Then drive home and in the driveway, ck for water again and dry. Simple. I have to do this with my G35 dd.

I just use a leaf blower I didn't see any point in Paying 300 dollars for some Master Blaster when any leaf blower that costs 50 bucks does the same job mine was acctually free since my neighbor leave it in my garage. I use it never a problem at all.
