I was guessing the Corvette is not as vulnerable. Amazing that the Camry is the highest stolen vehicle, ranked up there with the Accord/Civic every year. I can't picture someone getting too upset about their Camry being stolen anyway since it isn't that exciting of a car to drive or look at to begin with.
However, I have a feeling many Camry owners would have no problem at all if their car was stolen. Who wants a car that may not stop when you need it to?
What has been changed on the 2008+ Vettes that prevents this from happening?
Nothing.
ALL C6 Corvettes from 2005-2010 share the same fob system.
Don't know why the article mentions 2005-2007... maybe its just old.
Whatever... I'm not worried about it. I take reasonable precautions by locking my doors when I leave the car -- no need to jump through hoops. That's why I pay for good insurance.
If one were REALLY paranoid, you could simply buy one of those little RF blockling bags to keep your fob in when you are not in the car, or keep it wrapped in tinfoil (to possibly match your hat). But the risk is so small, I don't think its worth the trouble, IMHO.

The Corvette is not on the list of top 100 stolen cars, so not really a realistic fear to have...unless life is too good and we are looking for something to be concerned about
I just tried putting my fob in a piece of foil and it does not operate the locks or the ignition when this is done...so if someone is in a dangerous spot and wants to feel better, this can be done.

I wouldn't depend on that. The pictures show the follower 5 feet from the owner and the driver 5 feet from the car. Neither the FOB nor the car transmitters work from that range. The FOB has to be within a foot of the door for it to auto unlock. BUT... when you are building your own transmitter/receiver sets, you can make them as powerful as you want. Wrapping the FOB in foil greatly diminishes its transmit/receive range but doesn't totally block it. If the thieve's receiver can work with a bare FOB at 5 feet then it might work from a few inches with a foil wrapped FOB.
Bottom line - These high power transceivers aren't going to be cheap and they aren't going to work if you aren't standing near the owner's FOB. A tow truck is cheaper, more reliable, and less chance of getting caught.

I just tried it for fun....this is not a threat that I am concerned about anyway.
There is an easy way to avoid this scam, don't be predictable. Don't park the same place day after day. Theives like this know your schedule and patterns. They are not dumb. The other thing to remember is there is probably not a big market for C6 parts and the car itself is not an exotic, maybe the ZR1. The car is still in production and the numbers produce is small comared to just about any other car out there. It is unlikely at this time the car is high on the proffesional theifs list.
As a precaution, whenever I am going to leave my C6 in a strange area, I always lock the doors with the door lock switch, and then close the door. This procedure activates the alarm system. I.E. I DON'T lock the car with my Remote.
This prevents someone from picking up and storing your Remote's signal as you leave the vehicle and lock the doors via your Remote.
M...
Mine is set to auto lock - I just walk away....
The fob only responds to the RCDLR asking (like when you press the door pad) or you pressing the fob button.
