I have a 4 hour ride Friday for a weekend car show and my 360's are new. I'm really using these for shows so I decided to put painters tape over the lips for the ride down. Is this just way out of line or am I doing a good thing by protecting the wheels.. I've never done this before but I've seen guys put painters tape over the noses of cars for driving to shows or on the track. Thanks in advance!!!
They are your wheels and if you want to protect them while looking a little ridiculous driving down the road than that is up to you. Personally my vette is for driving and I wouldn't do this to anything I own. Do what you gotta do man!
I appreciate the effort but I dont think that will last for 400 miles. The heat and wind will melt the glue at some point. Maybe try it for a quick 50 mile and see how it works. I would also stop and take the tape off a few miles before you hit the show, you dont want to drive in like that IMHO. Let us know how it works and good luck.
Painters tape lasts a good long while. Had some on my rear brake ducts for a 1100 mile drive home. Though does stuff really fly into the wheels and cause damage? I don't think it's necessary. The only damage I've ever had to wheels in the past 10 years was due to curbs and tire mounting..
LOL I drive my car alot...and hard. I have 2 sets of wheels and was trying to preserve these for the upcoming season. Yes I think it looks stupid but thought it would keep them good. I will end up taking it off before the trip. Maybe I should've gotten some yellow painters tape!!!!!
Put a really good coat or two of some paste wax, leave it on until you get to where you are going, then wipe it off..done this before, not a problem and the wheels get a good cleaning..

Yes....A/C.....Ok..ok I'll take it off!!!! I was testing it out!! lol
you have a good sense of humor. as to protecting the wheels, probably not. but you could use that tape on other parts of the car far more sensitive to nicks, such as around the wheels and the front bumper. again, it'll look odd, but if protection is the game....
