Thanks,
You should use a silicone based lubricant. GM has a product called superlube that is recommended. You can find the part number for it in the sticky thread at the top of C6 General on the removable roof panel noises. In lieu of superlube you can use an o-ring lube which you can find at any hardware store.

My 2009 manual recommends two products. One is called GM Weatherstrip Lube (which I think is Superlube under a different name), the other is GM Dielectric Silicone Grease.

I've tried both, the Weatherstrip Lube is very expensive and doesn't seem to work better, maybe not even as well, as the Dielectric Silicone grease. Downside of the grease is that it attracts dust.

I plan to stay with the grease.

GM SuperLube was, in fact THE Super Lube product. It may have changed. But if not, it is not silicone....it is Teflon. The Original Super Lube Teflon product is nice. It will not stain and leaves NO residue, which provides clean hands, cloths and trunk carpet/liner.

You can go to any NAPA and get Sil-Glide. It's the same stuff. After lubing my weatherstripping, I must admit, it's a bit messy. Dust and other stuff seems to stick to the weatherstripping

I use Superlube (Ace Hardware) to lubricate the top hardware.
