LG motorsrports, kooks or american racing? Gettin ready to buy some headers, which ones are the best guys?
All 3 have an excellent reputation but personally I can vouch for American Racing. They're built right here on Long Island. I've been to their shop and they used my '05 GTO as a prototype car for their new system.
They fabbed me a set of headers, catted midpipes and an x-pipe and the results were absolutely FLAWLESS.
I really like my AR Headers I have on my C5 and I got them when they first came out over 4 years ago and they really have great performance and a nice sound
Do a search on this board, note your mods, and you will see a trend as to which brand results in the most power under the curve. In general though all three of these will give you good results.
You really can't go wrong with any of those 3. We Corvette owners are really fortunate to have some excellent products available for our beloved cars.
Don't let any one company or person try and tell you that one makes more power than the other. All of the major brands will get you basically the same power. I have been on this board about 9 years now and have seen hundereds of these header threads and sometimes they get nasty. There has never been a TRUE apples to apples comparision.
Different people will post up what results they get, problem is...one car is a Z06, another is a coupe with mods, another is a heads/cam coupe , another is a stock LS3...etc etc.. you get the point. Then of course, you have different dynos and different tuners posting results.
One thing is for sure, it is a great mod for sound/power..and is a must if you are going to do more mods in the future.
Maybe my Kooks were just a jinx but mine had too many problems for the price. Should have bought the Chinese headers for a lot less had I wanted a "fix it" set of headers. Emailed Kooks three emails, three different email addresses but never got a reply.
The drivers side header was within 1/8" of the front cross member. Some light grinding gave it good clearance. ID of the Mid pipe was .020 too small to fit the X pipe. No real problem there, took it to my local muffler shop to be expanded. After having it expanded then found it to be too short. Rear cross member was then too close to the drivers side muffler. More grinding now to the rear cross member for clearance. I have almost everything fixed now but still have too short a mid pipe. Might be difficult to change my differential fluid with the passenger side muffler pulled in so close. Tried adjusting this pipe every way I could but too short is just too short!
