Default E-Brake Boot Install??

Got my 07' Monty back from the shop yesterday eve. Paint and new spoiler are awesome!

Spent a few hours today putting in my APSIS wrapped leather interior parts.

E-Brake handle and boot are giving me a fit. How do you get the release button off of the handle. Need this off so I can pull the boot over the handle. Is there a small set screw at the base of the button on the underside?

If your advice I will have this all done tomorrow afternoon after church.

thanks,

Tom

Once you remove the set screw from the base of the e-brake handle, just pull up on the handle grip itself and the button will come off with it. Here's a link to some instructions from DS Vettes that should help:

thanks for the link. I noticed a couple of things. I apparently put the button/relaease back on when I took the original boot and handle off. I will get it off somehow. Other thing is, my new boot came as one piece - I will separate them.

I will give it a try tomorrow afternoon. Time to get to bed. Thanks for the help, Tom

OK - a couple of lessons learns. 1. there is a "spring" tab on the bottom of the leading edge of the silver button. Take a very small pointed object or jewelers screw driver and push it in and the button comes right off. 2. If you E-boot and handle come as one piece, separate them. the boot just rolls off the handle. 3. Don't put the center arm rest on until you have the E-brake boot and handle on. Otherwise it is a very simple process. Tom
