Welcome to 1996 .

J/k. The giveaway in the design/placement of the tanks is in the fuel tank filler. In the C4's, it was centered high in the back, just ahead of the rear bumper behind the hatch glass. Starting w/ the C5 in MY97, the filler moved to just behind the drivers door, to accomodate the tanks being moved forward of the rear axles. This created the problem of how to fit the "tank" around the central tunnel, as putting it above it would have had it sitting right behind your head. By going to the dual tank design, they got the tank where they wanted it while simultaneously opening up a huge cargo area.

You can post attachments if you upgrade your membership to premium level. I believe it is an extra $10/yr.

A friend of mine is getting a supercharger put on his C5 Z06. I believe he said his fuel sender/pump is accessible from the side so the tank doesn't have to come out of the car. That is a major PITA for the C6.

It appears that PDF is for the C5. The C6 is very similar, can anyone tell us what the differences are?

I understand it's literally an all day $1000.00 labor job. Supposedly the entire cradle supporting the transmission & differential has to be dropped inorder to drop the fuel tank to install a new Z06 fuel pump in a C6.

This is the correct answer, and they empty out equally.

More so if you have a larger automatic transmission. It's supposed to be a little easier with a manual transmission. The last time I looked under that area of my car it appeared to be easier to get to the transfer tube. My car is a manual. The fuel filter is inside the tank. Which is a (what were they thinking?) kind of thing.
