Diagnostic Charge .............$98.00
Corvette Diagnostic Charge $198.00
I asked WHY?? & was told because Vetts are such a bitch, & are so complicated....

More accurately, Chevrolet dealerships consider Corvette owners to be a bitch.
I guess someone told General Motors' new chief executive Ed Whitacre they really didn't pay back their government loans in full quite like he boasted. Time to sock it to the evil rich Corvette owners.

I would find a different dealer if they think the Vette is "so complicated". I would hate to see them around a more complex car, like a 911 or GT-R. A mid engine on the Cayman might really screw up their minds.

A few years ago, I went to the auto parts store to buy an oil filter for my 04 Corvette. All the Delco oil filters were priced under $4.00, except the PF46. That filter was $7.00. I asked why, and I was told, 'That's a Corvette oil filter'. For some reason, if it's for a Corvette, it should be more expensive.

What exactly is a "diagnostic charge"?
Is it simply plugging into the OBD port and reading a code? Or is it something more than that? If its just plugging in you can buy a code reader/eraser for less than $100 and do it yourself in a couple of minutes for all your cars, your wifes car and all your friends cars. Alot of places like Autozone also provide this service for free.

As long as your VETTE is under warranty you won't incur any diagnostic charge. It's all covered. 198 bucks is a clear ripoff!A Vette is no different then many other cars out there and when all is said and done .IT'S JUST A CHEVY!!!

I was just recently told by Chevy Customer Service that diagnolstic charges are not covered under warranty.

If the dealer diagnostics reveal a problem covered by GM’s bumper-to-bumper warranty, the diagnostic charge better damn well be covered by GM or they’ll never sell me another new vehicle.

That makes no sense, unless the diagnosis turns up something that isn’t covered under warranty (due to mods or something like that).

Ask me if I'm happy. Again this is from Chevy Customer Service last Friday.
My Vette is factory stock, no mods. 10,000 miles and 3 years old.
