Default Mirror drip

Has anyone found out the secret to stopping the water from dripping down the doors after you wash your car?

I'll dry the mirrors really good and do it for about 30 mins after I washed the car. I'll then go in the house come out two hours later to water stains down the door.

The secret is to gently lift the mirror as you dry, (better done if you are blowing Vette dry) and the colunm of water will drain.

I have tried the mirror covers but the problem is the water collect in the base. Lifting gently, (only as much as needed) will allow the drainage.

Air compressor or leafblower can be your friend in the Vette washing department.

I use a leafblower before I dry the car off, it works great.

My electric Toro blower works fine although my gas blower works even better.

I use an Air Blaster that I bought for my motorcycle and it works great. It filters the air and heats it up a little bit to more effectively dry than just blowing with a leaf blower. I don't have to use towels at all and I get no drips from my mirrors or tail lights.

Had the same problem until I started using the leaf blower. It removes most of the water, the rest goes pretty quick using a chamois. Funny thing is I bought the leaf blower just for this purpose and it sat in it's box for a year before I started using it

Simply wrap them with a clinging food wrap like Seranwrap. Keeps the water out.

Only my passenger-side mirror seems to hold a lot of water and will drip for a while after I wash the car. After I dry the entire car I'll hold a papertowl to the base of the mirror and let it absorb most of the water. Then I'll continue detailing the car (wheels tires, windows, interior, etc) and return to the mirror a little while later to see if it's still dripping. Usually after absorbing the water with a papertowl a 2nd time it doesn't drip anymore.

How do you wash the mirror?

Compressed air is the answer. Dries water from all nooks and crannies.

I prefer the air compressor. Where I live, no need for a leaf blower. Both work well. However, you can use the compressor for a bunch of other neat stuff.

Tip... After rinsing the car, **** the mirrors down. While you are blowing off other water holding areas, let them drain. Then blow the heck out of 'em. Focus on the base.

The air compressor/leaf blower also rids you of other water holding problems. Rear tail lights, front and back emblems, etc.

Get a compressor, or a leaf blower and problem solved.

People also used to complain about water from the tail lights and there is/was a seal you could buy for the tail lights. I've never had a problem with either but I also always use a leaf blower. I seldom touch the car with anything during drying so I also don't have any swirl marks.

I use my Master Blaster to blow off my mirrors, helps the situation, however water still runs down both doors for period of time, just not as much.

I find myself going back with my micro-fiber towel and wiping the water off of my doors a few times and then all is well.

Regards,

GSRANDY

Good advice so far. I use one of those Master Blaster's to dry the Vette after washing it. It certainly clears water from around the lights, rims and moldings extremely well.

Nope, I do not have to use anything else to dry the car with. Prior to purchasing the Blaster, I used the leaf blower and it did a pretty good job.
