This evening the wife and I were leaving to go eat and she pulled the opener on the glove box to get her sun glasses out. When she did, I heard a snap and the operner arm came out but the glove box door didn't open. Now the opener arm is in the out position all the time and I can't get the glove box open. I think one of the plastic parts broke but I'm not sure. My problem is how to get the glove box door open with out prying it and messing up the dash. Any ideas?
mine broke but since under warranty, just took it in. it's about a $10 part. as to opening it, I thought I saw when looking a way to wiggle a thin small screwdriver in to push the spring, no? I could be wrong since I didn't need to open it before taking it in.
I'd say if you buy the part locally, someone there will show you how to remove the old part.
Mine has broken twice. Both times I was able to open the glove box by pulling on a small metal piece in front with needlenose pliers. As for replacement, the first time it was nuts. Drop off in the morning, got back at 4pm. They still haven't touched the car. Waited until 6pm... Second time, I raised the BS flag. Pretty much told them to 'give me the part', I had the allen wrench, and changed it myself in 5 minutes. Gave them the broken one for warranty purposes.
