Default Hankook and Sumitomo tire owners, comments please

I have narrowed my tire research down to Michelin PS2s, Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110s and Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs. My first choice is the PS2s, but after reading all the reviews and tests on Tirerack and other web postings I am wondering if they are worth 2X the price over the Hankooks or Sumitomos. If you own either the Hankooks or Sumitomos I would appreciate any comments that you might have about them.

- Both tires seem to have soft sidewalls, how would you characterize their steering response? Does their steering response seem dull or vague? How does their steering response compare to your previous tires?

- How is their wet performance?

- How many miles do you have on them?

- How are they wearing? Has the noise, traction changed as they wear?

- Any other comments would be appreciated

I've had the Ventus, Amazing wet traction, Dry traction left something to be desired. (High speed autocrossing was scarry!!) Normal highway driving was fine but an emergency move at highway speed told me I needed to replace them. Noise was not an issue, traction seemed to get a little better & tire became a little more stable as the tread blocks wore down a bit however I replaced them before they were completely warn out. Replaced them Firestone Wide Oval's - AMAZING TIRES! Great dry traction, Great wet traction, good wear (except for the effects of my right foot), & and they were less than 1/2 the price of the PS2's

I tried some PS2s and was not overly impressed with them compared to the Hankooks (both in 305 size).

I have put about 6k on the hankooks now and used them for a full day on a road course and had no complaints.

They do run a bit more narrow than a PS2 though, so a 305 PS2 is a bit wider than a 305 Hankook Ventus.

I have the Handkooks I don't track my car but I like them alot more than them runcraps I had on there have about 6000 miles on them they seam to wear nicely I can hook first and second with 420 to the wheels on the street as for side walls I suspect they are softer because the ride quality is much better than the runcraps. but my next tire is going to be the nitto 555r since I'm going up in power level also.

...I find that really hard to believe because with the 305/30/19 hankooks I can't hook first gear with ~375rwhp in my A6 and I spin a bit going into 2nd (PS2s were the same)

I'm taking my new Hankooks to the track on Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes. So far I have 1k miles on them and am pretty happy. They felt really wrong for the first 50 miles or so but after that they have settled in nicely. They're quiet and they look good. I live in San Diego so I can't comment on wet performance. It sprinkled a little bit this morning but when that happens everyone slows down to 20 here.

I have the Hanhook Ventus EVO12s 305/30/19 out back and my first and second gears are 100x better traction wise VS runcraps. Unless I launch insanely hard (car has full bolt ons and tuned) it won't spin a bit. 05 LS2 MN6. With stock tires I was sideways through all first and second and sometimes alittle in 3rd. Great improvement for the price!
