Default Theft / Vandalism... need some help...

Someone decided they needed my navigation unit and roof worse than I did. They broke the driver window, took the top and radio, and destroyed the bezel in the process.

I've been able to find a nav unit, window, and bezel on an auction site, but I'm having trouble finding a top with hardware. I can find them all day without the hardware.

Anyone have any incite as to where I could find one without spending an arm and a leg? I'm even willing to buy one that isn't the right color (Atomic Orange) and have it capped with the carbon fiber or painted to match.

I will have an extra cup holder and ashtray if anyone needs them.

Thanks in advance
-J

You don't have comprehensive insurance coverage?

Pay the deductible and use your insurance policy. That's what we pay ALL those premiums for.

$1000 deductible... so far I've gotten everything I need for $500 and some change. I don't think filing a claim would help much.

A new top is more than $1000. It would be cheaper to pay the deductible than to buy a new top.

(If I may suggest? Going to a low or no deductible comprehensive coverage usually isn't that much more. Of course other factors may affect that but,, for example, I have zero deductible comprehensive on all my vehicles but then again, I'm insuring 3 of 'em)

If You can fix it for $500 you defiantly will be ahead of the game as your insurance rate shouldn't raise. Sorry for your loss.

It's a little late to change my policy on this car... I've never had or heard of a no deductible coverage. If you had a $100 paint chip fixed, would they cover it all? There has to be a lower limit right? They wouldn't let you make a claim for $100 would they? kinda curious how this works. I may in fact be buying the wrong insurance.

I don't necessarily need a "new" top. I'll take whatever I can find and make it work.

I've had the windshield replaced in both my C6 and C5 Z06 by insurance under my comprehensive coverage. Even had the top replaced in our C4 (when we still had it) under the same coverage. Trust me, zero deductible...

(oh and rock chips aren't covered under comprehensive - more than likely they'd be collision since the car is in motion. Although I don't think any company would cover 'em regardless!)

Default ok...

The is Comp, coverage...does not raise you rate if you use it, it covers windshields... door dings, damage, non accident. The difference between $1000 and $500 is VERY little, and you can get $250 or $100 for more money... Even with your $1000, you may have been ahead... all new parts, installed by dealer... maybe $2500... It would be like new, and you would not have to run around... My .02

middle of the day, store parking lot...

Wouldn't have pissed me off nearly as bad if they hadn't torn up the center console. I don't know why, it was the cheapest thing to replace.

Filing a claim will do worse than not helping much. Anytime you file a claim it counts against you to one degree or another. If you can possibly avoid filing a claim you'll be better off. Save the claim for the big losses.

That's always been my philosophy hence the reason I am doing this all myself on the cheap. To be honest that's also why I had the $1000 deductible. Its more of a "catastrophic loss" plan.

My Allstate agent told me years ago, $0 deductible on comp. = about $25 per year over a higher deductible. I have always had $0 deductible on comp.

Door ding are collision, not comp. The theft is a comp. claim.

Too late now, but I would be looking at a policy update.

There is no deductible on my Grundy insurance policy. They don't even sell any other level.

When he looked it up, even my insurance agent was surprised how inexpensive it was.

Good luck with your repairs! I assume it was parked outside overnight?

I could really use the ash tray... my ash tray keeps popping open with the slightest bumps in the road and it's driving me crazy!
