Having problem with 05 vette shutting down while driving. Need Help.
I'm hoping that somebody can help me. My corvette shuts down on me while I'm driving. I took it to the Chevy dealer 3 times already but still have the same problem. Chevy changed the fuel pump, the fuel sensor, and the gas module. Does anybody know what might be wrong?

The same thing happened to 2 of the '05s owned by family members. The dealers could not get a code or shut down to occur.
Both are well maintained, one has 8K miles the other 23K miles. After several visits the dealers changed the PCM and no more problems.
This was covered by the emissions warranty.

To the best of my knowledge this is not a common problem. Did the problem start fairly recently? Was anything done to the car just prior to the problem starting? Is it an immediate shut-down or does it seem to sputter a bit before it dies? Is there any pattern to the frequency or occurrence of the shut-down problem? Does it happen after a certain time period, reaching a certain temperature, etc.? Is there any common trait between the occurrences? Are all your gauges reading normal when it happens? It seems somewhat unusual to have a CEL without a DTC being generated. The CEL throws me off but otherwise I'd check for the simple things first...could there be a loose connection anywhere...in the ignition switch perhaps? Is there any chance you're hitting the start/stop button with your knee as you drive (don't laugh it happened to me once)?
Was the dealership able to replicate the problem? I really don't know but considering what the dealership already did and in the absence of finding a loose connection, I'd look for something electrical or internal to the ECM/PCM. Let us know what you find out and good luck.
Trouble Code - Since the check engine light is on...shouldn't there be a code stored?
Fuel or electrical. When it shuts down do the lights/ gages/ stereo remain on?
Dealership is focused on fuel delivery. Could be something as simple as a short in the start button. (Can your knee touch the start button as you sit in the car?)
As asked from a co-member above what are the drivability symptons when it shuts off? (stuttering/ sudden/ uphill/ bump/ steady speed/ Air Conditioning on/ Cruise control on or off/ etc.)

Hi Ralph,
Sorry but can you tell me what PCM stands for? Thanks!
Is the check engine light always on? I would borrow or buy a code reader and get the code when the check engine light comes on, then google for the code to see what it means.
