Engine Issue Question
I was out driving, parked, then start the car back up and got a rough running engine with a DIC warning of "Reduced Engine Power"? It was as if the engine was running on 5-6 cylinders. The RPM would not get above 2500. After waiting for a bit I started the car again and it was as if nothing happened except the check engine light remained. A local Chevy dealer cound not duplicate the problem since no code was stored.
Anyone have a similar situation?

I've never had this but reduced engine power can result from over-heating...the system goes into an overheat protection mode and alternates firing groups of cylinders to prevent engine damage. Perhaps a fault related to detecting an overheat condition...perhaps a sensor? I'm not sure but good luck.

Spurious gremlins do happen and have been talked about here so hopefully that's all it was. But I am curious, you say the CEL is still on but the dealer found no codes? Doesn't seem possible to me. Anyway, we all hope the best for you.
