The wetter the climate, the more often you should change it. Some dealers like to charge about $170 for the maintenance 2 service (my GMC dealer). My Chevy dealer just the charge for the oil change (about $80). I asked the GMC dealer what do they do above the oil change/tire rotation and their 27 point inspection that is around $90 compared to the $170 charge. He couldn't give me an answer.
I heard one dealer try to charge a C6 owner for tire rotation with the stock tires.
I've noticed that dealers are more eager to service your car now.
