I was considering getting a short throw shifter and one of these custom shift *****, but after doing some reading, I think all I really want is just to have the shifter a little lower height-wise.

Does your stainless steel shift **** sit lower than the stock shifter on a 2006 C6? If so, by how much?

I would like my shifter **** to be about an inch to an inch-and-a-half lower, but I'm really fine with the quality of the stock shifter, I think it's pretty good, I've never missed a shift unless the CAGS kicks in.

Anyone who's purchased the stainless unit would you care to comment on the feel - especially since it's quite a bit heavier than the stock shifter ball.

Thanks,
TomZ

I can't speak for Southern CP but I've got a similar aluminum **** and it's at least 2-1/2" lower than factory ****. I assume it would be about the same as most round ***** mount much lower on the shifter.

Wow, that's a lot lower. Have you also used the stock **** or did you buy the car with the alum. ****? What's your impressions of the lower height, is the increased effort a problem for daily driving?

Thanks,
TomZ

I bought my car new and I switched to the ball. The lower mounting makes the throw a lot shorter and the feel is totally different. It's the way it should have come from the factory. No increased effort but a whole lot more fun!

Default I'm Interested

I'm interested in a plain stainless ball shifter, just like the one in the first pic of the post right before this.

It looks like the C6 stainless **** is almost an inch higher than this on the pics on your website, unless I'm mistaken. I want the **** to be as low as possible, just about touching the boot. Is this what you have for the C-6?

Thanks,
TomZ

Yep, the **** sits low enough that the bottom end of the **** is just about touching the boot.

Thanks,

How about a large white old school round with about a 3" shifter arm extender! I'd buy that!

Check them out at the links below, lots of options for each basic style, so scroll down to the bottom of the page so you can see how customizable these shift ***** are...

C5 Shift *****....
Corvette C5 Sphere Shift ****

Corvette Hybrid Shift ****

Corvette C5 Piston Shift ****

Corvette C5 Stainless Steel Shift ****

And then the Corvette C6 Custom Shift *****
Corvette C6 Stainless Shift ****

Corvette C6 Piston Shift ****

Again, all of the above ***** are made in the USA with TOP NOTCH materials. No cheap stuff, you can tell just holding them in your hands that they are pure quality!!!

They take 2-3 days top ship and some orders can take a week to ship, but worth the wait and every penny!!!!

They fit ALL C5 and C6 Corvettes including the ZR1 and Z06.

Check them out when you have time...

I'd be interested to see what you come up with for an automatic as well.

Any offerings for the 2010-11 C6 auto? Your listed auto ***** say they only work with 05-09 C6's?

Not yet...the GM changed the design of the auto shifter on 09 and we do not have a solution for that one yet.

I'm speaking from experience here and for those of you who live in hot climates or who's cars sit in the sun.... metal shifter ***** will take the skin off the palm of your hands during the summer.

I had a Mustang with a custom shift ****, and after a hot day in the sun, it would burn (kinda like that guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark, it would leave the shift pattern in your palm... )

Anyhow, what I did to remedy that was I stole one of gf's jewelry bags. She has the black felt bags with drawstrings that her jewelry came in.

And when I would park the car I would slip it on top of the shift ****, so when I came back to the car, it might be a little warm, but by no means "hot".

And when driving, I would just fold it and put it in the glove box or center console...

Just an idea...
