Check the freon charge first but the other thing that can cause it is a blown coil on the a/c clutch. That's easy to check, just unhook the wiring on it and do a resistance test across the 2 wires - or apply 12v directly to the clutch wires and see if it engages. If that's OK you can also check for 12v on the wires going to the clutch.
A quick way to check for low Freon is to pull the electrical connector off the low pressure switch. With a wire, short across the wires in the connector. If the compressor clutch engages, you can bet that there isn't enough freon in the system. Of course the pressure switch itself could be bad but that's not likely.
Well, I just talked with him and he found out there was no freon or very little in the line at all. So, I guess we now know why there wasn't any cold air.
