I have been told by a few people to leave the car in reverse
when it's not running. But no knows why.
The dealer says the same thing, but doesn't know why.
Can you guys help?
Thanks, Kliph
The 2005 manual tranny cars had to be put in reverse before the engine was shut off. Just the way the electronics was made. If you don't, it never shuts down completely and will drain the battery.
GM changed that after the 2005. Later model cars don't require that.
Your car doesn't require that. Dealer doesn't know what he's talking about.
It is never a bad idea... your car has no "parK' so Reverse is the next best thing... and on 2005's.... they HAD to put in park or the battery would drain... not an issue on your 2010... but still not a bad idea...

The intent is to leave it in a high ratio gear to put as much drag on the tranny to keep the car from moving. For that reason (see attached chart), 1st gear is almost as good as reverse.
