I totally this forum needs to high light the GOOD guys, ( dealers & vendors ). The forum also needs to keep us all informed of the BAD dealers & vendors. However, the MODS tend to sweep the informative news under the table & just close/lock the thread.

I asked about the shifter, he states, "that will need to addressed". i said to him, take care of it because i already told him i wanted it fixed. he just wasn't listening. on tues he ordered parts, said the shifter would be done the next day. no call Wednesday. no call Thursday, i call him. he tells me the roof had to be repainted twice due to color not matching. the shifter not done yet. it will be ready friday. friday, no call. i call at 6pm (they close at 7) he tells me they are finishing roof install, shifter was not started. i said to him i will be in Saturday morning by 10 am, will it be done, "yes" he stated.

came in Saturday. took them 15 minutes just to pull the car up. when i looked at it, the color on roof was totally off. (i have a millennium yellow). service guy agreed and said to bring it back Monday. then i noticed some scuffs in the paint on front corner nose clip. not sure if it was there before. i leave to run some errands, not 5 minutes away. i get out of car and notice all the black plastic protective stuff under the nose of the car hanging down about 3 inches away from the clip on the driver side corner. I am irate, head back to dealer to point out the damage, he tells me that at least 5 people had driven the car(porters, techs) he starts to push everything back in place.

i bring the car back Monday, now the service manager comes out to look at it. hes eye balling the paint and proceeds to tell me that metallic paint needs to be sprayed in same direction to have it match. that is my problem w/ the color. MILLENNIUM YELLOW IS A FLAT PAINT, NO PEARL, NO METALLIC, he is feeding me a line of crap. I proceed to explain all the aggravation from last week, his response was, "oh".

this is why dealerships are losing money. especially GM dealers. This particular stealer has horrible customer service. The service manager has no tact in dealing w/ customers. They will be getting a letter from me and so will GM/Chevrolet customer service.

I own a Toyota and a Acura as our daily drivers. I have never seen service like that from them. They have been great. Why is it that GM gets such bad marks?
Maybe your dealership has been taking lessons from mine.........??
I can't seem to get a break at mine, even ordering parts is a PITA!

I have owned my 2005 C6 for about a month now. Bought it from a GM dealer. 2 weeks into ownership the right DRL burnt out. Called the dealer, brought it in the next morning at 8 am. 15 minutes later the car was done, and instead of just replacing the burnt out DRL, they replaced both for free. I bought the car as is, so they didnt have to do anything for free.

This is my second week of working at a Chevy dealer, I came from 2 diff. Honda dealers. I've seen many 'vettes in the shop in my 10 days so far and I've seen not one single 'vette lifted using pucks. Furthermore the lifts are really too old to even use the pucks because the arms barely fit under a 'vette as is. I asked a few of the long-timers there and was told they've never had a set of the pucks and were surprised to learn I actually own 2 sets. I asked if anyone has ever cracked a rocker and they said not to their knowledge but somebody did PUT ONE THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARD ON ONE ONCE. Which ended up being a $1200 repair. But wait it gets better, we have a body shop on site and I went over to look around their shop and noticed the 3 'vettes in the air for service also did not use any lifting pucks or adapters of any kind, they have the exact same lifts as we do in our shop. Needless to say I'm shocked considering the volume of C5 and C6 I've seen in just a week and a half. But all the other techs do take very good care of a 'vette when they have one. Of course if I get it you know it'll br treated like fine crystal. I guess I'm just a little surprised that not all Chevy dealers are completely equipped for a C5 or C6.

My Vette has been to my local dealer twice to a new roof installed due to the recall. 1st time the paint was horrible and their response when I called them on it was flat out terrible. I had to track down the owner to get anywhere with them. They agreed to try again, 2nd time, not much better and the top rattles like crazy. Went back and forth with them and I'm taking it back in a couple of weeks for a 3rd try. My confidence is very low that this issue will ever get resolved. The new top does not fit like the old one and I've heard of similar issues from other Corvette owners.

As always, I love my Vette but.................................

they are part of a "power"ful group
I live in Santa Clarita as well. My wife was in the process of buying her Vette a couple of yrs ago. The new car salesman, at that very same dealer, first was very condescending toward her, even to the point of dismissing her. Then he didn't even know how to start a Vette. I think this this site has the responsibility to keep the forum public informed as to who the good dealers are as well as the bad dealers are.

It would be a shame if the thread were locked because a dealer's name, good or bad, was posted. They could always add a disclaimer. I would also hope that we are all intelligent enough to evaluate the situation objectively. I am assuming that the vendors that use this site are reputable and unless I learn otherwise I will attempt to purchase from them. I guess we will just have to wait until names are posted.

IDSRVIT,

The only negative (because I'm **** about clean/clear windows) is they always are courteous and wash the windshield and side windows (inside and out) and I end up having to redo it when I get home because they are smeary.
HINT!

All owners. The reason your windows are smeary or seem smeary or get smeary is because you use glass cleaner. I've seen many Corvette owners at the shop and track cleaning their windows with that crap so let me make a recommendation. These glass cleaners like Windex leave a very fine film on glass and that film can either wind up looking smeary or will get smeary quickly because it attracts airborne particulates very easily and gets smeary and dirty quickly. You don't want that film. You can remove it with water or soap and water but that amounts to cleaning the windows twice. Just use PLAIN WATER. Plain water and paper towels are fine and might take a little more elbow grease but its worth it. You can also use a little mild soap with the water but this also needs to be rinsed afterwards with PLAIN WATER. PLAIN WATER will not leave a film. Take my word, I worked in optical labs in another life and the ONLY thing we ever used was water, soap and water, and ethyl alcohol for non organic contamination followed by - soap and PLAIN WATER and then a rinse in...PLAIN WATER.

Over the past 20+ years and more than 500K miles I have had occasion to use dealer service in:

California
Virginia
West Virginia
Washington State
Oregon
Texas
Colorado
Florida
and Arizona

All service has been excellent.

And if someone knows what they're doing one does not have to use pucks to lift a Corvette.

This type of BS is very common and expected IMO with GM dealer service. Hope your problems get worked out, but it will be a nightmare process. Keep us updated.
There are excellent dealerships, and plenty of them. I've been buying Chevys for 38 years, and I've known the guys and gals at my local dealership since they started working there. Same thing with the body shop that my local dealership uses.

Mistakes happen, but these stories usually have one thing in common, and that's an adverserial relationship between the service writer, or service manager, and the customer. Treat people how you would like to be treated, hell, try to make friends with these service guys, I'll bet you'll have a whole different experience.
